I think it's about where the question is coming from. If it's said with a real care for the person that's in front of them, then obviously it's responded to well.... So many people start interacting with the person they think that they are, and they miss getting to interact with who they actually are... It means people treat them so poorly, because they have no sensitivity to their current feelings, they're always talking to a past version of that person that they think they know and still exists.
