Today in Day-8 we are heading to Varkala from Kanyakumari. In this episode we will show you the entire route from Kanyakumari to Varkala via Thiruvananthpuram -Jatayu Earth's center-Varkala, cruising through the beautiful lush green roads of Kerala.

Finally after catching one of the best beach sunrise in India, at Kanyakumari beach and a visit of the Triveni Sangam at Kanyakumari, we headed to Varkala, via visiting World's largest bird statue at Jatayu Earth's Center.
Kanyakumari to Varkala Route:
- There are 3 main routes to reach Varkala from Kanyakumari.
The shortest and fastest route is to take NH 66 from Kanyakumari till Varkala via Thiruvananathapuram - Kazhakkoottam -Attingal - Varkala.(134 kms)
- If you want to explore the coastal Kerala towns and beaches you can take NH66 which passes via Poovar - Kovalam - Vakkom - Varkala.(134 kms)
- If you want to visit Jatayu Earth's center, like we did, you can take NH66 passing via Thiruvananathapuram - Kazhakkoottam - Kilimanoor - Kadakkal-Jatayu Earth's center - Varkala.(170 kms).

- Major cities you will cross via this route is Nagercoil and Thiruvananathapuram.
- Road conditions are amazing throughout. Though roads will pass via multiple villages, yet you will find the roads smooth like butter and lush greenery all around. One of the best routes for Hodophiles.
- The only care you need to take while driving on this route is of the local and city traffic in between.
- In some places road constructions are in progress and you might need to take diversion, in which case gmaps don't work correctly. For such cases try to ask local people using city names or NH names as keyword. Locals are surely helpful here inspite of the language barrier.

Attractions we covered on Day 8:
*Kanyakumari Beach Sunrise:
Kanyakumari is the only places on earth, where you can see the Sunrise and Sunset from the ocean. It is the only place in India where one can enjoy the unique spectacle of Sunset and Moonrise simultaneously on full moon days. Though during our stay it was cloudy, we got lucky on our last day and witnessed a glorious sunrise at the beach. One you will never forget.
Triveni Sangamam Kanyakumari:
At Kanyakumari beach, you will see a ghat, hardly 5 mins walking from sunrise point where you witness the sangam(confluence) of three seas- Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. The water looks greyish in rains and there is no color difference of water visible on the beach like Dhanushkodi, yet the sangam is there. It is considered holy to take a dip here.
Jatayu Earth's Center:
Jatayu Nature Park holds the distinction of having the World's Largest Bird Sculpture, which is of Jatayu. The sculpture measures 200 feet long, 150 feet wide, 70 feet in height and occupies 15,000 square feet of floor area. It is an art sculpture dedicate to women empowerment inspired from the event of Jatayu trying to save Sita from Ravana .All minute details and info of this place are shared in the video, please take note of it carefully, if you planning to visit.
