Came here after Kantara. That movie made me feel proud. And now I am even more prouder seeing the traditional flavours of our India. Coz of Bollywood's dominance we were so very much inclined n attached to the Western culture, that we didn't pay any heed to our own cultures that are so colorful n beautiful in the whole world. That is why films like Kantara n Kartikeya 2 found our love. And moreover these movies were so brilliantly presented that just word of mouth was enough to advertise it. I missed this event this year. Really surprised to see the crowd on last day nema this year. Reminded me of my childhood days. No one used to dared to sleep during this nema. Happy to see my dad walking around and all family members enjoying along with the faith we have.

I am from this culture. Daiva and Naga discipline the public instead of court and police. The villagers believe in Dharma or self discipline.... that's my understanding of our culture.

Its called Bhootkola or butakola, this is a kind of aradhana/worship of Daivas/boots/demigods. Majority of the South Canara people worship different demigods. Some are specific to a house, some to a village, some to a group of villages or temple. This is a video of one such aradhane.

@@drchetana8389 yes Kandettu falls in Mangalore and this aaradhane is from that place is what I can make out as its mentioned in the title, but the aaradhane is performed in Udupi and some villages in Kasaragod district as well.

Fell down the rabbit hole. Going to watch Kantara with husband now! I'm settling in Tamilnadu with in-laws, but our home is in Bangalore. Very cool to learn this festival exists!
