No he is from the Mande people not Mende which is different. Mande people consists of different people like Bambara , mandinka , etc. Yes they are from Mali but you’re speaking about two different groups. Mande people are in many parts of west africa like guinea Mali Liberia Ivory Coast Burkina Faso etc. You can look up the difference.
