Kansas Range Academies - Happening Annually

Join us for our Kansas Range Academies happening every August & September! We offer three distinct academies across Kansas: Tallgrass, Mixed Grass, and Shortgrass. Enhance your rangeland management skills in a welcoming environment alongside fellow ranchers, land managers, range management students, and natural resource professionals.
David Kraft, Co-Coordinator for the Kansas Grazing Lands Coalition (KGLC), explains that KGLC is composed of landowners and ranchers throughout Kansas. The coalition's mission is to educate and disseminate knowledge about the state's native grasslands.
These academies cover a range of rangeland topics including plant identification, calculating stocking rates, monitoring vegetation response, estimating forage allocation, and more. You'll have the opportunity to interact with ranchers and natural resource professionals from the NRCS and other organizations. These experts will discuss strategies for long-term planning in response to natural and market forces, ensuring your rangeland remains healthy and your livestock productive.
Immerse yourself in our workshops and masterclasses led by industry experts. Network with like-minded individuals and build valuable connections within the Shortgrass community. Whether you are an experienced professional seeking new insights or a beginner eager to learn about rangeland management, these academies offer something for everyone. Discover innovative solutions to real-world challenges, explore emerging trends, and gain valuable knowledge that can enhance your practice. Don’t miss out on this opportunity!
