Kansas is more than a classic rock band as well Trained musicians they are a very spiritual band experience if you listen to their music. Carry on My Waywatd Son, Portrait (He Knew), The Wall, Miracles Out of Nowhere, etc. Their lyrics are often deep and partnered with their exceptional and intrical musicianship. They are an interesting listen and deep dive. Dust in the Wind isn't creepy but hauntingly beautiful as reality and life being so precious and time in earth so brief. It's part of their spirituality as a band.

Kansas wrote numerous songs themed around a seeker of mystical wisdom who confronts truths too powerful for the average soul. This is one of those songs. Others include: Child of Innocence, Point of Know Return, Carry on Wayward Son, and Portrait.

@@russellmorgan5611 Good point. I'm not sure. The Cheyenne have roots in that area. And, of course, Kansas wrote a song called Cheyenne Anthem. Their Monolith album featured a painting of an American Indian wearing a space helmet. I particularly loved two songs from that album: People of the Southwind and On the Other Side.

Another Prog band, maybe the first, The Moody Blues. Check out Ride My Seesaw. Another, while not traditionally accepted as Prog, is ELO. They have strings in their arrangements. Mr. Blue Sky is a great one to start off with. Last but not least, King Crimson. Their first album is a classic. In the Court of the Crimson King, 21st Century Schizoid Man, Starless, Red and Thela Hun Gingeet show the variations of the groups transition over the years.

Not only are they from Kansas, they are from Topeka which you have ties to. I'm in Lawrence which is about 25 minutes east of there down I-70. And when I was in my first living situation in college, my roommate was older than me and he was from Topeka and he knew some of those guys and so we even had some of their hand-me-down band equipment Incorporated into his massive stereo system. They have tons of great stuff and they were such an important and intelligent band. I really think Carry On Wayward Son should be the next stop as it was also a huge huge hit and I think probably their big break out hit. I remember when that dropped and it was on the radio just constantly and it was so amazing.

Back in the day when this was hot for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks, CO(God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 600 miles round trip with roughly $1.00 gas Hell yeah.😎😎😎😎 I've seen them since then with the new band members in Reno (former Harrah's outdoor venue) in 2018. Still killin' it. I still have this LP./Album. Carry on Wayward Sun. Point of Know Return. "All your money won't another minute buy"

I am from the state of Kansas and lived there back during those days when Kansas had hits and before that. I remember hearing about the big show out in the country at some barn or something and it was 'free beer' with admission... and then I remember them playing Wichita quite a bit and saying all that I almost hate to admit I never saw them in concert.... I mean I was almost always broke and if not I was spending it on girlfriends or a wife... or a couple of the clubs that had live bands that just kicked ass..

Pray your loved ones say to you it’s okay to go. It’s the most difficult but the most loving gift you can give a loved one at the end. Give them permission. Lovely

Please try "Magnum Opus" from Leftoverture, "Aperçu" from Kansas (their 1st album), "Nobody's Home" from Point of Know Return, & "The Pinnacle" from Masque..... to name a few! Keep in mind these cuts are vintage and more of what the band was about, pretty hard core progressive rock. Not so much radio play friendly songs like Dust In the Wind or Carry On.

We were treated with a special surprise guest Rick Wakeman of Yes he entered the stage and performed a few songs. There he was, Cape flying. And surrounded by keyboards. And Kansas keyboard player was no slouch either . He danced the entire concert wearing nothing but hot pants and he was also surrounded by keyboards. Oh Yeah.
