First time I heard this back in the '70s, my initial impression was "This is the best song that I have ever heard." Over 40 years later, whenever I hear it, I still fell the same way.

Same here.
No, you would be correct!!! It is a masterpiece- vocals, lyrics, and instrumentally!!
No, brother, you wouldn't be. It is one of the greatest!
Phil Ehart is my Favorite Drummer of all time. Everyone in Kansas is the best at what they do.
Quite frankly, this song gets as much radio play as Back in Black or Stairway to Heaven. so no you're not wrong. Great rock song for sure.
Between the intro, the vocals and chang up's and solos "the whole song is a hook".
2 guys in T-shirts, 1 guy in a vest, 2 in button-downs, and the Bassist in a pure white Tuxedo. If there is any way to say you are all different there it is. Yes, this is in the top 10 rock songs of ALL time for me.
It was said we early in there career when they were opening for Led Zeppelin , the members of Led Zeppelin were to have said " it should of been the other way around , Kansas was so tight we should of opened for them" .
No sir you are correct, it is One of the Best songs ever! A pure masterpiece it has everything!
Kansas has always been one of my favorite bands. They have so many great songs. Here are a few to consider : "The Pinnacle", "Miracles Out of Nowhere", "Closet Chronicles" or "Magnum Opus".
Steve Walsh - maybe the most underrated vocalist of the last 50 years ... brilliant ... Kerry Livgren - Bless you always for this masterpiece ...
Supernatural fam in the house in the words of Dean " I love this song"
You are NOT over-stepping in your estimation, that this is the greatest song ever orchestrated. I've been a huge fan of this masterpiece since childhood. This song was for the movie, Heroes, starring Henry Winkler, Sally Fields, and Harrison Ford in 1977. It was about a veteran suffering from PTSD after he came home from the Vietnam War. Great movie, best song ever!!
That track is one of most complete songs ever. Tight in that pocket. Great vocal harmonies. Musicianship top notch.
Not overstepping. It’s a masterpiece ❤️
9 gold albums 3 multi platinum 1 platinum studio album 1 platinum live double album over 30 million albums sold I dare say the definition of underrated
The documentary Kansas: Miracles Out Of Nowhere is a must. Tight as the album as in live performances.
This song is a masterpiece of contemporary music...
ABSOLUTLEY ONE OF THE BEST
The vocals.. and he RIPS the organ.

Insanely talented
Layers upon layers of pure unadulterated talent.Kansas.
Greatest of all time? You got my vote. I think if you asked people, "what is the quintessential song of the 70s?" some people would answer, "Stairway to Heaven," some would answer, "Hotel California," but this one is THE quintessential song for the era.
The greatest song ever? I'll let you have that.
One of the greatest songs of the 70's love this song so much. I am,so glad that I grew up during those times , with great music
You did just hear one of the greatest rock songs ever!
Nah man,go ahead and say it,it is one of the best songs ever. They were a tight group, very professional in all of there music.I never tire of listening to them.
This is definitely one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard.
Play that tambourine!! They showcase all the talent individually and collectively. Brilliant!!
Not understated! I was lucky enough to see this live in 1980. Had some beers with them after the show. Totally down to earth dudes.
My favorite song of all time.
No, you're right, it is one of the greatest songs ever.
Drama, great choice. The entire album is great. I think i still have the 8 track version. :-)
Great reaction! I think I agree with you... Yeah, I do. 100%.
They were so good because they toured their asses off. There is a great documentary on HBO about Kansas. You should check it out.
my first concert ever!!!!nothing ever came close except for bob seagar
Kansas is totally underrated on todays classic rock scene.
Great musicians, great vocals. These guys were something different in the 70’s for sure. 🎼🎶🎤🎹🔥🎸😎 Here’s love❤️for great reactions and great music. If you want a great band with 3 guys doing it all- check out Triumph- Lay it on the line. Canadian band, like Rush....mega talented guys and they’ll knock you over with their energy too. Vocals are up in the ionosphere high, guitars lit and the drummer sings back up and sometimes lead too. That’s a rabbit hole, fair warning you might want more of them too.....enjoy! 🤘😎
It truly is one of the greatest songs we've ever heard. It's in my top ten all time, and by all time, I mean all the way back to J.S. Bach!
My all time favorite song! The vocals, lyrics and instrumentals! No auto tune... just pure, raw abs amazing talent. 🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️❤️
Not overstepping. Many many people LOVE it!
Definitely one of my all time favorites. Has all elements combined perfectly. BTW, lead singer converted to Christianity after all this. He search lead the way.

I used to think it was the lead singer( Steve Walsh) as well that converted to Christianity in 1980 but turns out it is the blond guitarist, Kerry Livgren, who wrote the song; with so many members it can get confusing.
I won tickets off a radio station to see these guys back in like 87. They are incredible
No over stating at all! This is definitely one on my TOP 3 favorite songs EVER!!
Oh, I'm in heaven! Kansas holds the top spot for favorite band in my 59 years of life! They are Beyond exceptional! I lived music until life sidelined me, but because of artists like this I can continue to experience it! So thrilled to see you discovered them!
This is one of the greatest songs I'VE ever heard. That lead vocalist also does bongos AND keyboards. Saw them live in Detroit in the 70s. One of the best concerts I've ever been to and I've been to many. Loved your appreciation of this song and the band.
Kansas has always been one of my favorite bands, if not my favorite. Before they split (up to their Audio-Visions album) I could thell you the words to every song on every album. They have done so much good music.
You know what man, I've been listening to this song since it first came out. I've literally heard it hundreds of times and I still love it. That has to mean something. Continue on your journey ,there is a ton of great music from this era to enjoy. So glad you're keeping it alive. Thanks. P.S. I am also a musician, a singer/songwriter to be exact and if you'd like to hear one my latest things check out: Vic-Here we are on youtube.
If you'd like to add another jewel to your greatest songs list, please consider reacting to the live version of Little Feat with the great Lowell George and the Tower of Power horns doing "Spanish Moon." One of the best bass lines in 70s rock, Hammond organ work that will make you weep, those horns, and George's vocals are not to be missed.
Everything about this band is awesome!
The lyrics are beautiful also brother. Kerry said it was like it was downloaded into his mind. It definitely was Heaven sent then it was added to an out of this world instrument arrangement.
Great tune man! Thanks!! ✊
I agree, one of the Greatest songs I've ever heard as well.
You are absolutely not overstating; and I am privileged to live about 60 miles from them. They are truly Kansas boys and we are proud to claim them. There is more here than just The Wizard of Oz.
Yes sir, great song, talented group, WHAT'S ON MY MIND is the 3rd song on the album, this was the 1st song.
When I first heard Kansas I would never have seen them looking like this.,but its not about the look .It's about what they do and how that music makes you feel..The great voices.Great production.Loved "Dust in the wind",This one was a pleasant surprise after surprise.Soooo talented
The song has layers of talent. Many hits by them.No argument from me on one of the greatest songs ever...timeless I say.Try “ Miracles OutOf Nowhere” and “ People of the Southwind”....Damn,do anything because they were so far ahead of their time it was ridiculous with their progressive Prague style.Their most famous song next to this one is probably “ Dust in the Wind.”
I completely agree with you about this being one of the GREATEST SONGS of all time! I am so glad you did the live the version. Keep up the reactions!
it is one of the best. multi-talented artists.
Now that's one multi-talented dude and a singer unlivable
this is my no 1 rock masterpiece, bar none.
That intro is what got them noticed by Don Kirshner's Rock concert show.God bless Don for his patience in the music industry. If not for him.🥰
It's in my all time top ten rock songs. You're not alone.
YES SIR THIS IS A MASTERPIECE FROM START TO FINISH. I COULD LISTEN TO THIS SONG EVERY DAY AND NEVER GET TIRED OF HEARING IT
By the way, the guy playing the tambourine played violin on most of Kansas’ songs.
The hair and beard guy (Randy Steinhardt) just passed 2 days ago Growing up this was one of many bands I loved
Great reaction, I’ve been fortunate to have seen them a couple times in concert. Steve Walsh ran around the stage the whole time, did periodic handstands on the keyboard kit, no idea how he had that much energy or breath to pull off such great live shows.
Give it up drummer thump box🤘🤘🤘
Great song, what a voice.. My fave Kansas tune has always been "The wall' though, it helped inspire me to reach my dreams.
Supernatural Theme Song. Love you boys!!!!!!!!!
This song is an absolute masterpiece! Thank you DramaSyde for your reacting to it!
You are ''UNDERSTATING" this as being one the Greatest Songs Ever Heard" Loove it loove it ...!!!!
Along with "Dust in The wind" kansas holds two places in rock history for greatest 50 tunes. imo
this song colored the background of my life
You love the harmonies with Kansas should check out some Eagles they have some great music and harmonies
I still say , ya gotta see Canada Jam 78. It's not lip synched like this one. ☺
It is one of the greatest rock songs.
This is an awesome song and instrumental masterpiece, they are such good musicians and great at what they do, the harmonies, the beat/cord drops amazing. The amount of times it changed throughout idk, I lost count. Great job.
this song is very popular because it's from supernatural
watching you react to this and enjoy it as much as you did is easily some of the best content youtube has to offer! you are NOT overstepping by saying that, progressive rock is a different breed.
Brother it is indeed one of the greatest songs ever!
This is the album recording with concert video imposed. But its great to see them "in concert"
The guy singing and playing the congos looks just like the Michael Bolton character from Office Space.
This is also one of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard too!
Saw them live 1978. Unbelievable
You've got to hear "Dust in the Wind" by Kansas....
I believe I have discovered a new favorite reaction channel. And yes, your message. In all things love. I wholeheartedly concur. Cheers!
There are some perfect songs. Like you said about Steely Dan's Home at Last. Some songs are just put together like a perfect puzzle. Everything is right where it should be. This is like 7 great songs compressed into one. So, no, you are not wrong when you say this is one of the greatest songs ever created. Hell, it's practically the theme song that carried 15 seasons of Supernatural.
One of the Greatest
You have made me a fan of your reactions. Not only are you choosing some of the best music ever played but you really appreciate the greatness of this song and others. This has always been one of my favorites. Also listen to miracles out of nowhere
Another suggestion, Renegade by STYX
obviously, you have to explore more Kansas
respect to the hair and beard...subscriber gained..lol.... and no you are not overstepping...I wouldnt even consider myself a Kansas fan and I would say this song is absolutely Epic!
Good for you, stand your ground, bro. Good call. Haha.
By now you know the guy with the Hair and Beard plays a wicked Electric Violin like nobody else. I see you have reacted to "Dust In The Wind"
Absolutely love Kansas, but now you need to hear Voiceplay's a cappella version that also brings the fire! Please check it out.
I've never seen one of your videos before, but the fact you took a moment to bless that man's beard and hair, I gotta sub on that alone! Much love brother
Now you need to do Leo Moracchioli 's cover of this! Hoping to go see Kansas next year when concerts happen again
You would not be overstepping or overstating by saying this is one of the greatest songs you've ever heard. It is a sonic masterpiece, no doubt. Kansas is highly underrated and of course should be in the Rock Hall, but it'll probably never happen.
Spot on with your assessment, in my humble opinion!
Mad love to the red hair and the red beard and to DramaSyde!
