My father was a teacher of loving soulful music and spent a lifetime learning from well known famous kanoonists from the middle east whom I was blessed to meet as a child. His passion inspired and now re-inspires me. His hands are mine. Thank you to everyone. If you still need lessons or questions please contact if not please inspire and continue to teach beautiful music! My father studied for 4 over 40 years. He's amazing. A great father who exposed me to world music, culture, and soul! My father a few years ago playing the kanoon. A man who taught me things that I may not have realized until now. Ty poppy!my spitting image in my eclectic diverse cultural background. A NYC trained classical musician who found world music to move him. Ty poppy! You have given me a gift. I love you!

I recognize the melody so it must be from Arabia and not Iran. Not sure of the Arabic name for this instrument but in the West it is called a Zither which is either the same instrument or closely related to this one. this one is called a Qanoon and is from Ankara, Turkey.
