I just want to say thanks for the video. I went out in early January and got a 24 1/2 inch walleye. Took a video and a couple pictures and released her. First fish of 2020.

Jon Boat Fishing Adventures trust me. It sucks to freeze your ass off all day, but it worked out. Got some good bibs now so I don’t freeze. Can’t wait until your next video. It’s nice to see what’s going on down River. I beat them up pretty good last year in Indiana.

Say , can you share which part ( location ) of the river for a possible walleye , at this time of year mid ( December 2020 ) ?

You're welcome gorgeous fish my friend!!! Fat bodied cranks on the slow troll you'll get big smallies and eyes every time. Try a Rebel Wee-R square bill yellow and black tiger... I had to change hooks 4 times cause of 20 plus inch eyes lol

@@chadyoung4434 Cool, I'll let you know... As you know, I have a spot close to home I've been learning this fall...

One thing to do when trolling instead of needing bells is to loosen the drag just enough that when a fish grabs it you'll hear the drag. tighten it up a click when reeling it in.

I gotta get out again, soon. The rivers are all really high still and I don't enjoy fishing in the cold any more.

@@willhudson4583 I have a 14' Alumacraft . Lake Michigan is seriously DANGEROUS! Especially when the water gets colder.. If you go overboard in 75ﾟ water you can swim to safety if you're not too far out and you're a good swimmer, but when the water is 50ﾟ I don't think you're going very far. Whatever you do never wear jeans because you can't swim in jeans. Also make sure you rig a kill switch up to your outboard so if you fall overboard the engine shuts off.

Ever try indiana side trolling for walleye ?

Mostly between Kankakee River State Park and the Wilmington Dam and IN State Line to Momence.

I didn't realize that the Kankakee had walleye. I knew that it was famous for it's small mouth, but surprised about the walleye. Where at on the Kankakee were you fishing?

There are Walleyes all over the Kankakee. They'll be downstream from the dams until after they spawn in spring...

That's weird because it's more known for its Walleye than Smallmouth lol. The Kankakee had the state record Walleye for a long time. When I think smallies I think DuPage River.

They started stocking walleye in the early 00s due to sand filling in the river and covering up walleye spawning areas. There would be no walleye left if they hadn't started the stocking program.

They have em in the Iroquois River also it feeds into the Kankakee up by Aroma park,all though most of the ones I have seen on average are 12-14 inches...mostly smallmouths though

MrCoffeekelly So that is pretty lame. I read the regulation. You aren’t wrong. They should change that. I think it’s stupid.

I’m going to try the Kankakee on the Indiana side this spring. About a 2.5 hour drive one way but who cares. My 18.5’ tracker should be perfect for it! Try some Bandit 200 series Walmart carries them. I catch a ton of eyes on them in the lakes. Probably my brother in the helicopters his unit is in Gary but now he’s in the Middle East

Indiana channelized the river back when they drained the Grand Kankakee Marsh but it's still fishable.
