Kane Creek on TW200s-Moab 24

This was a good one...I liked it. We struggled in a couple of spots but made it all the way. Very scenic too. A little longer video than I would normally produce but I thought this ride would be better shown all at once rather than splitting it up.

    I have been riding for a long time, and in 2022 I bought a T Dub. I haven't rode it enough to be really comfortable, but I am getting there. I am 77 years old, and it is harder to ride gnarly sections than it use to be. I did that trail on a quad a few years ago. I usually ride alone, but a little help would be nice on a trail like that. I live in Idaho, and we have some awesome trails here, BUT, some of them I refuse to ride on. I would not even want to WALK on those trails!!! If you make a mistake you will go over a cliff, and IF you survive, you will need a chopper to retrieve what is left of your bike. My thrill seeking days are over, however, I will still ride my quad over that kind of terrain. With my T Dub, I am a little bit more picky. LOL

    Thanks for watching BOR! :) Yeah, Kane Creek does have some rough areas for sure. I'm pretty sure my wife wouldn't enjoy this trail on her TW but I know she would ride in our 50" Rzr. I to am from Idaho about an hour/half north of Boise. I've only been back from our snowbirding for a couple of weeks but am looking forward to summer and some good old Idaho forest riding. Again, thanks for watching and hope you enjoy both your quad and TW! 😊

    All moto's are fun to ride in Moab. Well, maybe it would be a little harder on a Harley haha. I'm thinking a Gas Gas would have been really fun as well especially on the more technical trails but yeah, the TWs are a blast too so bring it along next time. 😊

    You guys really showed that you don't really need a 2 stroke highly powered/torqued dirt-only bike to get through a technical trail like that. The T Dub does go anywhere and you guys showed patience, picking the right lines, and teamwork really pay off. Just curious as to weather you saw any other dual sport bikes attempting Kane Creek? Would a Himi or a DRZ400type dual sport be too heavy or should it only be attempted with the lighter more torqued bikes?

  • @klnrgj01

    @klnrgj01

    23 күн бұрын

    Thanks for watch. I don't think I saw any other dual sports riding it but I'm sure they have. The trail is pretty easy up to the point our group split up. A lighter bike would be easier to get up those two areas where we had to use teamwork. I think the TWs are capable but our talent levels are the limiting factor. None the less we had super fun and plan to ride it again in the future. I have an old XT350 which is about the same as your DRZ400 weight wise. I'd be comfortable riding my XT350 knowing I'd struggle in the same 2 rough spots. With help I'd do it. Again, my talent level is not that great. Oh, and the XT is a kick start which sucks so you'd have an advantage with the DRZ in that regard should you stall in those tough areas. Thanks again for watching!

    What type of tires do you have? If you are talking stock TW tires you'd be fine. One of the riders in our group was on a Honda CT125 with what looked like stock tires. He did wallow and squiggle in the sandy sections but made it.

    200 xcw is about ideal for kane creek. You'll want to stay on the main route on not bypass - the hill is a short but rocky obstacle that a 200 can go up with minimum issue (I do it on a plated 500 excf). The ledge is the second obstacle and as long as you can loft the front you can clean that no problem. The creek section? You won't stop smiling for a week...

    I probably should address this "trail blocker" comment as it comes up from time to time. I also own a RZR so I understand completely and this isn't just from a frustrated mean motorcycle rider point of view. My comments are meant to bring trail/road awareness and courtesy. By the time I make a "trail blocker" comment I've been riding behind someone for a very long time who must not be paying attention, mad at us following or whatever. I'm very patient and I understand one has to find a safe location to pull over but passing many safe pullout areas sometimes for miles, it gets a little old. I will pass someone who isn't pulling over if it's safe to but I try to give the driver/rider ahead time to pull over on their own. So to the folks who are mad or frustrated with my "trail blocker" comments, I'll refrain from making comments insulting those riders or drivers in the future.
