Recording artist, singer, songwriter and pianist Kandace Springs came by our KNKX studios in downtown Seattle bringing with her a sprightly spirit and immense talent.
Her playing is on par with that of a classical pianist and it was a true joy to watch her fingers bounding up and down confidently on our studio piano.
Her original tune "Run Your Race" was penned in honor of her recently deceased father "Scat" Springs and will be featured on a yet-to-be-released album. It’s a tear-inducing shout-out to the man who was her life’s greatest musical influence. This studio session performance was the first time the song's been recorded.
She has a lovely command of a soulful and sweet voice that she generously washes with a lush and broad richness. That texture calls to mind Ella Fitzgerald whom she credits as a top singing influence. Her advice to singers: sing from your heart.
Springs delighted us by signing her name along with an artistically drawn classic car. (Springs is also an accomplished visual artist and car hobbyist.) Her boundless energy can also be explained by her gift for athletics which she shared with her late track-star father. She plays soccer and basketball most days of any given week.
Springs was in town performing six shows at Jazz Alley with a crackerjack rhythm section including Caylen Bryant on bass and background vocals and Camille Gainer on drums and background vocals. The trio is planning to record Springs' fifth album later this year.

I absolutely LOVE her voice & piano playing!! The song for her gather Run Your Rave brought tears to my eyes 😢 I too miss my father. I do hope she travels to Texas this year as I would love to see her live.

Kandace is awesome. Her talent surpasses all others to me. I really love the new song, Run Your Race. The unique thing about Kandace is her voice is fantastic and she can play the piano really, really well. Most people are only really good at singing or playing an instrument, not really good at both.

True. Add to this that she knows music and have a fine taste. Classical, jazz, latin, afro, r&b, etc. Many excellent singers also play, but too bad, except Diana Krall. This condition gives her and extra singing quality. I've seen also an interesting peculiarity : when she goes high and with vibratto, she sounds like the dutch Trijntje, another phenomenal singer.

I've been following you for several years and travelled 3000 miles to see you live. Also seen you twice in the UK, you are very special. Yes, Kandace Springs is a sensation in every way. Thank God there are still wonderful artists in this terrible time of war and destruction who show us that it is worth living. This also includes the gifted Leonid Vorobyev and his excellent musicians and singers, especially the sensational Ksenia Buzina. Their studio recordings of Chicago, EWF and Carpenters classics are simply phenomenal and are among the best currently available in the world. Of course, Gregory Porter is one of my favorites. His "mother's song" sung live at the Paradiso Amsterdam and accompanied by the Metropole Orkest is truly unique and gives me goosebumps every time kzread.info/dash/bejne/m5Wk2cGJlZvNYrg.html. In my Opinion The Metropole Orkest has been by far the best orchestra in the world for years. These musicians are incredibly good. Under the direction of Jules Buckley and Vince Mendoza, they have recorded unforgettable concerts with countless international stars.
