I feel like Zi-O's ideas are good, but the way they go around it just make me mad beyond belief in the writing aspect because of how they went around it. Also the first half cameos are horribles except OOO and Ghost. Also Zi-O as a Rider reeks of "look at my cool OC that's better than all the Riders before it, nothing can beat it!" even more than Decade. Also that ending felt...rushed, like...really rushed. Its also inconcistent with its own rules about the time travel, mostly because they never had rules about it. Yes, Zi-O has lots of cool moment, but when you look at it in a writing stance, the show is REALLY weak. Also why the fuck did it take 20+ episodes to answers that we should have gotten from day one!?

Forget about everything else. This is the Decade season 2. "I'm just a passing-through Kamen Rider. Remember that!"

I didn't really enjoy Zi-O as much as I did with Build, maybe it's because the ending felt rush and incomplete, but I still like it. I do admit the time travel stuff are not explain that well or things don't have a follow up when it should. But I just watch the show with my brain turn off so I don't have anything to complain about that much. I do have to wonder how Geiz gets his power. Maybe it was thanks to Woz? I would like a V-Cinema about the characters' past besides Sougo. And on the side note, I prefer Sougo over Kou any day.

You know what the biggest waste in the show was for me? It was during the Ryuki tribute episode where Sougo was confronted by his mirror self. This could have been the best moment to show that there was something more to him behind this dumb "I wanna be King" desire. This could be the time to explore what makes this character the main character. What does he harbour? What are his real doubts? What is his main motivation to be King? But all they did was bicker about some doubts about him being not worthy or something? Like, where was this self-conflict shown or hinted at before this? By the way, Heure and Ora are the most out of place characters ever in this series for me. Where were they from? Why do I, as an audience, have to care for them in the end when they died considering they tried to kill our heroes all this time and only until, like what, episode 40 for them to be in a pinch and have to rely on the people they tried to kill. And that is partially why I can't stand Sougo by that point. WHY DO YOU SO EASILY HELP THE PEOPLE WHO WERE TRYING TO KILL YOU?! Keep in mind, the whole bit where Heure and Ora got screwed over by Swartz and Sougo got all "buddy buddy" with them, all that happened in ONE EPISODE. Only for the NEXT EPISODE to show that Ora was an traitor(?) and tried to kill Heure but "Oh no that was actually an Roidmude that took her form but GOTCHA SON the real Ora killed him anyway!" All for what? To get her time travel powers to get on Swartz side again to betray him? If so why did you kill Heure off if you only needed to show his head strap to prove he died? If you never felt anything for him in the first place, then why make such a big deal that the betray attempt is in honor of him? HE didn't kill Heure, YOU did!

I think they should have made another zi-o be his mirror self. I kinda liked the another zi-o arcs by the guy who became him was so unbearable.

A very similar character to Sougo but handled way better is Emiya Shirou from Fate/stay night. Both had stupid dreams, with Shirou wanting to be a Hero of Justice who save lives. And like Sougo, he's told that dream will end badly and there's someone trying to kill him. (Spoiler territory) Unlike Sougo, Shirou is told this halfway through the secind route, and the one trying to kill him is his future self, who made a contract with a world and is now an immortal spirit tasked to kill people (there's a huge difference between saving lives and stopping a threat). Shirou's future is only harmful to hinself, and by the end, he reaffirms that he will become a Hero because of the beauty of that dream, and with the support of the people around him along with yhe knowledge of how his future could go, it's heavily implied that he will not make a contract with the world (and there's the third route where he gave up on that dream for the sake of the third main heroine, and the first route where it's implied that he will still go down a similar path, but instead of becoming a counter guardian because he wants to be a hero, he now has the new goal of reuniting with the first heroine, and he succeeds) Also, Shirou's dream to be a hero is quite complicated, what with his dark past and guilt complex. Meanwhile Sougo's dream was never really explored beyond "I was born this way"

Sougo himself should have been more darker and edgier underneath his "I wanna be a king someday" attitude. If ever he will return in Reiwa's tenth anniversary, I want him to play the role as the Big Bad Boss of the villains. He could have regained his powers by that point but he uses them for a much bigger plan such as rule with an iron fist to stop monsters from causing havoc and more chaos.

Apparently they forgot the fact that Sougo is a very clever and cunning chess master. In the early episodes, Sougo singlehandedly proved himself as the best strategist because he takes advantage of every slight opportunity he gets such as Woz's loyalty as his means of getting what he wants and even outsmarting someone like Kuroto (Genm) into his pawn. This comes back in Kabuto's arc where he is always one or steps ahead of everyone because he tricks Kageyama (Punch Hopper) into a trap.

There was behind the scenes specials called Supplementary Plan, that aired on TTFC (you can find them on streaming sites as .5 episodes) explaining why some plot choices were made. It's only 16 very short episodes but it's worth the watch (I think you may rewatch the series along since it's been almost 2 years it's over now).

The one thing that really bothered me was the OOO and drive arc: 1. They made Eiji as a politician. 2. They made drive with oda nobunaga, even tough he was tied with OOO an various movies.

The second half of Zi-O was about Another Riders being created in the present day (2019) which means that those history from those Riders are still intact BECAUSE the Time Jackers DID NOT create the Another Riders within the Rider-of-the-Week's home timeline (the year when his series was still active)

Really late response to this but wanted to follow up on the White Woz and Alternate Future arc, I thought this was going to go MUCH further with White Woz being an android version of Woz from the far ahead robot future. I thought that the giant robots would actually turn out to be from that time and we ended up with the Oma Zi-o future because Sougo had to give in to his dark powers to be strong enough to defeat them. I was really sad that they didn’t push further with this path.

It seems like this season should of been darker like Sougo should of died in the end like the time jackers were from different timelines so does Sougo always become evil they really should of touch on that

I know this is late but I realize that Woz's hairstyle is very similar to Adel's hairstyle from Ghost. It kinda bothered me because whenever I see woz, I see Adel. Seems like they re-use the hairstyle lol.

The show definitely had some issues, including some that aren't easily overlooked. First they made it seem like all Riders exist in Zi-O's world but they said at the end that all Riders came from their own world. Which is it? I guess maybe you can write it off as Swartz's interference but I'd prefer either time travel OR parallel dimensions - trying to do both just gets too complicated and too easy to mess up. Then again, I never liked the parallel world idea anyway because then the crossovers don't make sense.

16:33 well I think how Geiz got the Ziku Driver I’m guessing he got it from Woz pulling it out of his butt like he does with all the other Ziku Drivers he has. Cause they were working together in the Resistance before Woz betrayed them for Sougo. But Woz doesn’t put it on a pillow for him and he just hands it to Geiz.

Kiva/Ginga arc could be better if: 1. Actual Kiva with those emperor stuff being the actual plot rather than BS childhood love (Damn i actually hoping otoya/grease references but they don't gave that) 2. BS ginga didn't exist 3. If he actually exist, make it a subplot. Since the future riders were a sentai references with actors from sentai making returns, why don't they do Ultraman references (yes the voice actor of kivat actually the same voice actor of Ultraman Ginga as well but what i really like is that the human host actors returns in zi o since he actually played in Ex-Aid)

Two prime suspects for every bad thing that happened in Zi-O: the head writer, Kento Shimoyama (who wrote Ninninger and Kyoryuger Brave); and especially the producer, the "toku destroyer" Shinichiro Shirakura. Next time you see these names, alongside Shoji Yonemura, expect the series to be crap. Please, Toei, fire those Three Stooges already. Saban did that to Tzachor after Super Megafail..... (and I can only hope Zi-O flops further to give Toei more reasons to fire especially the old geezer Shirakura)

@@mallocmemory9538 The only good thing Yonemura wrote was Kabuto; everything else was s***, like Decade's 2nd half and the Taisen films. Shirakura, on the other hand, produced most of the Heisei Phase 1 Riders, which was still okay for the most part; except for Hibiki's 2nd half and, as mentioned, Decade, where he started getting crappy. He produced produced the Taisen films as well as Amazons (though I would say S1 was good, S2 was meh while the movie was "Huh?").

There was fun to be had but things fell apart real quick and at the end, nothing accomplished mattered because of a massive reset button.

I wouldn't say that, at least not entirely. The reset timeline was different, and it was more than just "the bad guy didn't win this time." There were consequences to it all, and I think the real final verdict will be how Zi-O's characters affect the Zero-One movie.

Sougo wouldn't consider that reset if not for him growing up with new friends he got during the series run Saying "nothing matters in the end" is missing his character entirely

I kinda fell off Zi-O around ep 29. Funnily enough I stopped watching Zi-O to watch Kuuga (I still haven't seen all Heisei Phase 1 shows yet) Kamen Rider Shinobi is probably the coolest thing that came out of Zi-O. I love his design and the Rider Time special for him was a blast. I kinda hope he gets his own full series in the future. Also Rider Time Ryuki was interesting.

everyone thinks zi-o is a bad anniversy season, but i loved it and i know you do to dosmrider, and i am excited to see what they have in store for the last pieces of zi-o. with the movie and something else that i won't spoil for other people.

I know this is late but it's really cringe with this typical high schooler that has stupid dream stuff like "I want to be a king" thingy. Very stupid and senseless whenever sougo said that. Imagine you met a person or a friend then he said to you "I want to be a king". Surely you will think that this person has mental problem. Then the show went full frienship stuff. I don't care about swartz and tsukuyomi stuff. They are boring. Don't mention about Hora and Heuru backstab thingy. Oh, the overuse of backstab at the end of the episodes are irritating and unnecessary. Very cheap. The only thing that interesting in the show is when White Woz shows up for the first time. I like when White woz and Black woz interacting with each other and how black woz is struggling against his alternate self but then they decided to kill white woz and make him a good guy then to be killed again. This is when the show became boring, generic and cringe. Kinda disappointing.

i wish Toei make 45th anniversary super sentai team can use power of previous super sentai team just like gokaiger

I liked Grand Zi-O over Decade Complete in terms of both design and functionality. Sadly it pales in comparison to Oma Zi-O over a couple margins. Swartz's motives was interesting because it's kept in a low profile before the pieces were put together. Makes me think he's been masking as an irrelevant villain on purpose.

Also, I think that Zi-O was a lil' sub-par overall but I feel it had some really loveable and epic moments especially in the middle area and around some of the larger tribute arcs like Agito/OOO. I agree that the series had an excellent premise and could've been great but it was poorly executed.

I watched it for the plot.

I simply ignored zio because I just HATED the idea of taking away both the riders powers and memories.

It's not that bad , but it could be better

"The Worst Anniversary?" No. Decade was a jumbled, confused mess that was literally incomplete.
