I LOVE THAT KAMASI LOVES ANIME
He released the best jazz album of the last year, likes Ed Motta, javanese traditional music, anime and he's always trying to be a positive influence for kids and everyone that comes in touch with him... Such a great person. I admire him a lot.

@@xadisembodiedvoice I guess Javanese gamelan's tend to have a slower beat than Balinese, but I don't really know

Ed Motta would be great I think. He has a really big record collection.
He seems so well put-together. Very articulate, very down to earth, and also very diverse. It's cool when you see people like this in the music industry.

Jazz fans all over the world are praising this man ! I know that jazz isn't for everyone, it never was...but when the jazz bug bites you can't get enough of it...Watch all the old videos of Roland Kirk, Ornette Coleman, Sonny Stitt etc. and you see men who function on a whole other level ....Kamasi is on that journey !

+GregEnemy The Epic is epic!
The Alice Coltrane album is a killer.
He likes Ed Motta!! Brazil Loves you Kamasi !!
Oh gamelan man, one of my favorite styles of ethnic music... At first it goes everywhere and you think "is this like jazz" ? But there is 0 improv, it's all rehearsed like crazy until perfection. It's mostly intrumental, and the bell-like sounds hooked me to it. It's long tracks, psychedelic, with breaks, climax, it's a bit like post rock in a way, very hypnotic post rock.
I love when he's talking about gamelan it's from my country
Great episode! He's so laid back and yet totally engaging.
Thank you, I love what you have done here for us.
I feel like I need his music collection in my life. This video just opened me up to a whole new part of music I didn't know about.
This dude just deadass pulled out a stack of anime what plane of existence am I on

I bought his album The Epic earlier this week and loved it, there is contemporary jazz out there that is really, really, really good and Kamasi proves it!
What an excellent series. A truly sincere thank you.
Such a lovely guy, got to meet him when he came out to Sydney and he was so genuine and charismatic
the intro in beginning. "Kamasi Washington - Miss Understanding"
Each anime series he listed is in my top ten, iI think i found my soul homie.
Thank you Amoeba! You granted my wish!!!!
This dude. Legit, one of the coolest guys around.
Just discovered this brilliant, personal and insightful musicology gift. Thank you Kamasi. Thank you Amoeba. Hope to catch up with you all soon. Peace.
Seriously been waiting for another WIMB of this caliber.
Cool, I love these clips I wish I could watch one of these in person
He's sooooo smooth and chilled up.
I absolutely love it when I see an artist on here where I own most of the albums on their buy list. I've never even listened to this dude but I sure am now
what a nerdy genius!!!
this is exactly why "What's in My Bag" series is pure gold
Really cool to get a glimpse into the life and personality of an artist like him. Would be really cool if they had videos like this back in the day for people like Miles and Trane. Lol
Great...I like seeing the process of how he loosened up by the end of the interview!
Thanks for the Ed Motta recommendation! I am really enjoying it.
I'd love to see a what's in my bag with Anderson Paak.

On top of being a brilliant musician, he seems like a really cool guy
thanks Kamasi for listening to Gamelan!
OGI+Kamasi+Thundercat+ Andre3000+Jungle would be wild gig. Miss the record stores for all the reason Kamasi outlines in here. The simple pleasure of taking music off the shelf a nd hearing it echo down the house or garden.
'Listening to the Rite of Spring really really loud' hahaha yes Kamasi
thanks Kamasi
Thanks kamasi! Thanks ameoba!
One of the dudes I wish I would have met or grew with, along with DEL, to share music and good old school fighting video games times. Real artists are hard workers on their thing but they stay open-minded on different inspiration sources. People like that make you want to play music too as they cherish the beauty and fun of life.
What a beautifull being + music taste!
Cool taste in music!
One of the greatest musicians alive.
