Leons wrestling hasn't improved enough to keep Usman off him and Usmans striking hasn't improved enough to outstrike Leon. Gonna be a boring decision win for Usman IMO.

The ufc have a lot of guys listed as exactly 6ft. Leon, Till, Diaz. Which is bullshit. Go look at the picture of Leon and Till together... Leon is a legit 6'2. Diaz was looking up at him during the face off as well. He's a big dude.

@Darren Reddix It doesn't mean nothing. Fighters hit their physical prime around 30. Doesn't matter when they start fighting. Leon started fighting in 2010 in smaller promotions then made his ufc debut in 2014. Usman was wrestling for years before he made his mma debut in 2012.

(edit: Leon was awarded R1 by 2 judges, and he lost R2 based off control time) Wow, seeing this fight for the first time both fighters really weren't that far apart. Leon took round 1 on most cards, and without Usman having all of that control time the fight could have gone his way. I favor Leon in the rematch this time around based off his lateral movement and striking variety, but I wonder if Usman will be able to batter him in the clinch for 5 rounds like he did in Usman Masvidal 1

@Judas Stomped? He had Usman in a triangle in round 1, and in R2 Usman just laid on him for 3 minutes. R3 is all Usman. It was scored 29-28 almost unanimously, and commentators acknowledge how hard the fight is to score in the beginning of R3, clown

Glad someone else agrees that leon can give usman some serious issues with his standup, also considering the fact usman is far more confident in his own standup improvements and might try to keep it on the feet much more than this fight to prove a point. That'll open him up for counters

Usman took all 3 rounds. A submission attempt simply isn't enough. It should be a 30-27 on all 3.
Hearing the commentary reminds me just how long ago this fight was. Rockhold had just became the middleweight champ, Goldy commentating, Khabib was still a rising contender, Usman has come so far, looking forward to the next one.

yeah this was at the beginning of the reebok contract when they only gave black/white shorts for non-title fights (& solid black with sometimes colour for champs), the Venum attire looks so much better but I still would rather have these fighters get their own money through sponsorship or merch wearing their own shorts like before

I do not understand why leon gets so little respect from the fans. I rarely see praise for edwards. The dude is a good fighter and he deserves every bit of respect he has earned
Usman does really good in rematches but this one is different for me because now they’re even better and this match was a couple years back I wouldn’t doubt if it starts real slow because they have to get use to each other again
