Kalyan Vs Karjat Local Trains Race Out of Mumbai
16 August 2018, Mumbai.
A drizzly morning saw me travel to Kopar on a Kalyan-bound local to meet up with friends. My focus was on getting a few clips with sounds from the traction motors as the train accelerated out of each station. Turned out to be a good morning for me - Kalyan's WDP4D roared past towards Mumbai with the Konkan Kanya Express and shortly thereafter a Karjat-bound local caught up with my train and raced us till Thane, after which my train sped on towards Kalyan and the Karjat-bound local went on its way.

i wonder whether you have experienced travelling in a bullet train to say that. Since they are also EMUs (Shinkansen) with insane acceleration but with an operating speed 3 times higher than our local trains.
Love that starting motor that humming noise and acceleration😍😍❤

All trains using a 1500DC motor has this sound. It's great, I used to hear that a lot until the trains where I am had replaced the trains with ones with a DC/AC converter. :(

I am also missing the daily journey of local train in mumbai city. 🚂🚂 Due to covid 19 & lockdown I lost my job in mumbai so I shifted to different city for job search but no luck with job. 😭😭

Railways can modify the coaches to suit only for Mumbai Suburban trains. simply remove all seats and allow only standing passengers. in this way the coach can carry more passengers. if required only longitudinal seating of 30cm may be provided.

local trains are meant for quick acceleration and decelaration which is only possible with train sets and not locomotive hauled rail coaches.

It doesn’t use a VVVF. It uses brushed DC motors and resistors

There is no fast and slow line between Kalyan and karjat.you have mentioned wrongly .this line is slow and fast line between Kalyan and VT side.i have seen up to dombivli.then understand it is towards VT.not karjat side.

Please, read the description. I have clearly mentioned Kalyan-bound and Karjat-bound. Not Kalyan and Karjat line. This is NOT towards VT. This was shot between Ghatkopar and Thane, and a little ahead after that. I might not be a Mumbaikar but I know my facts.

I miss travelling by local.. I miss me cursing the deadly crowd I had to face everyday.. I badly miss standing in the doors of local.. I miss me boarding at CSMT and getting off in & around the lush green surrounding of Kamothe at Manasarovar station. I love the way I was embracing & loving every moment I spent in Mumbai. Hope I get back to the city my heart always longs for.❤️❤️❤️

1. Not really interested. This was a one-off attempt at a small video. 2. Locals are too noisy. 3. Mumbai is too far for me and in the current circumstances I wouldn't travel to Mumbai even if I was paid to go.

For Mumbai, just the local trains constitute 2300+ services per day. Then there are all the other trains and also occasional freight traffic. Even six lines are not enough sometimes.
