The character who threw ashwathama could be bheem and there's a reason he wore that white clothes. Cuz, the day before he launches brahmastra to uttara's womb, he(ashwathama) killed all the sons of pandavas even though the war is over( dhuryodhana getting killed) as a sign of revenge. He actually wanted to kill pandavas in their sleep but they turned out be pandavas sons. So, pandavas might still be mourning(As Mohit mentioned) and when they come to attack ashwathama, after knowing that he killed pandavas sons, he(ashwathama) becomes extra happy and also makes sure that no generation is left out. Then, he launched that brahmastra. After this whole thing, Bheema might become enraged to throw ashwathama to distance.

Watch Prem Unfiltered's theory on why Prabhas has to be Kalki, then you may be more convinced. Prabhas as a character cannot be just a side role, especially because they're making him support the evil side basically the whole movie and h's changing sides towards the end, it has to have some significance.

If you realise the character transformation jo change of heart waala phase hai woh quite similar jaisa sound kar raha hai like Baahubali part 1. Bhairava change of heart bahaut baadmein karega and Ashwatthama has few fight parallels to Kattappa fighting Shivudu in part 1.
