Eh not a fan of the sound. I prefer tuning the bass up to F#. It allows the bass and the 7 string of baritone guitar tuned down to F# to differentiate their tonality within a mix. Bands like Meshuggah and Vola make this work and its fantastic. But hey if that setup works for you or anyone else then who i am to be gatekeeper?

I have the exact same bass, and I tuned it to drop F# using .50 to 1.35 gauge strings 💀

Little known fact, Meshuggah's bassist doesn't actually tune his bass an octave below the low F. He meets the guitars at the same frequency.

​@rustyshackleford9452 the bass plays an octave lower on a few songs, some of them are in B flat and 3 of them in A flat, but when the guitars play their lowest strings, the bass is in unison with them

A0 is kind of the low limit for bass notes to be discernible. That F#0 is as good as it gets. But I am not sure if it is worth the hassle to go that low.

Human hearing can generally go down to 20hz which is why most headphones and speakers go that low as a limit. 20hz is an E0 so most people will be able to hear this low F#. The biggest problem for hearing low notes is that people think you need to be closer to the speaker, when in actual fact you need to be further away to give the wave space to form. An F#0 is about 23hz, which has a wavelength of 14 metres, so you'd need to be quite a distance away to get the most out of it

yea well to produce a wavelength of 14 meters a speaker needs to be 14 meters in diameter to produce that fundamental frequency. @@TheLowest

I have an Ibanez sr 885. Soundgear. Japan. 1996. Vari mid pre amp. At g sharp on b, the gbsharp hieght at 12th fret is 2.5 mm. It sounds goood. Am i ok? And its a 145 gauge. Not floopy decent tension.

I can't even remember how high or low the action was a lot of times I don't even measure I will play my feel I will also eyeball the action height and the relief and the neck and then see how it sounds how much rattle their is in the strings things like that

I just started playing guitar but i think I'm doing some good things. I put up some music on my channel here.

I use a .170 on an ibanez srff806bks for drop F. It works great.

Did you mean the lows are through 15’s and highs through the 10’s?

No, lows are going through the 10's, and the highs are going through the 15's. This is intentional. And it sounds incredible, and there is no danger of blowing a speaker

So this is a customer of mines bass guitar. This is what he wanted, I would have recommended NOT tuning this low at all with this instrument. It is just not designed for this low of a tuning.
