FatiTank Drawings it was composed in 1860 by Ivan Larionov, who was a composer AND folklorist. There are no records of the song before this and all sources point to it being made in 1860. It is however still a popular Russian folk song.

@@YeetZmeN There is many REAL perfect Russian folk songs exist. But Kalinka is not of them. Its author's-made song from XIX century composition who just trying to be like folk music.

There was no lords and the ruling knyazes were ousted by the Veche vote. The peasants were made serfs and those resorted to revolts only at the turn of 17 century. That's not medieval.
To be honest, when I close eyes hearing this, I see beautiful old, maybe medieval, small east-european village covered with snow. Really splendid version!

The first tsar appeared after the destruction of the Golden Horde. We only had dukes up to that point.

This sounds like simple Kalinka as it is pretty old song by itself.
Nice music. one small correction to the description. During the time of the Kievan Rus' there was a real Caesar (Tsar) who lived Constantinople. Russian Tsars came after the Golden Horde and the fall of Constantinople in 1453. HTH
Kalinka was written in 1860 so y'all are way off with the Soviet comments lol.

Love the artwork! Music is great, but the artwork brings something else in me! It reminds me of my great-grandmother's home in the Romanian countryside. It felt like the place was disconnected from the world 100%.

@@SasoriCam Танец (tanets) itself is gone from germanic 'tanz', that came to german language from french 'danser/dancier', as the word 'dance' came to english from french. Пляс is original slavic word for dance.

@@SasoriCam Of course, "dance" we use much more, than "plyas". "Plyas" is more about stylistic speech, as using "thow" in english, but not so torn off from modern language. By the way, Where are u from ?
