Kali Techniques applied to the Urban Pal ( Cold Steel push dagger )

Ойын-сауық

Kali demonstration video using basic Panantukan (Panuntukan) techniques applied to the Cold Steel Urban Pal. What I love most about the design is that one can use the open hand for parrying and control even while holding the blade. Please note that the fancy techniques shown are for demonstration and cultural purposes only. The best way to strike with the push dagger is by the simple jab, delivered in quick succession. Please excuse my self-indulgence, as this video was made primarily to satisfy my own fantasies about tactical knife fighting.
Gratitude goes to Batikang Guro Isagani Abon, master instructor of Rapido Realismo Kali and founder of Abon Taktikal ( ?q=#/abontak...) for the techniques, and to Guro Gerald Pilapil for the footage.
The actual push dagger used in the video is an aluminum training blade courtesy of Guro Gerald Pilapil. Guro Gerald is the owner and propietor of Ensayo Tactical Trainers : Training Blades for the Modern Warrior and is the current head of Rapido Realismo Kali Greenhills and Sta. Mesa.

I carry my push dagger scout style on my weak side. Fast and easy to deploy from a kydex sheath. Provides a much more secure grip than a folder or regular handle fixed blade. No worries my hand will slip onto the blade. I practice using a punching motion to the throat and face if an attacker was fighting for my strong side firearm. Never thought about carrying one until I watched a video by an ex special forces operator who now does private security. I find it's an excellent 'get off me' cqc weapon.

bladesociety if you have just went to the link I provided you have been more informed. this is one of the information written their "The push dagger is thought to have originated from the Indian subcontinent, and is related in principle to the 16th-century Indian katar (कटार), or punching sword.[1][2] However, the katar is gripped by two close-set vertical bars, while a push dagger uses a T-handle and a blade that protrudes between the fingers when properly gripped."

It's a demonstration of technique. It doesn't matter what martial art it is, if you demonstrate a technique your partner doesn't resist. Literally all martial arts do this, they do it so others can understand what happened without it being a clusterfuck. Don't act like a keyboard warrior.

Tyler Lalonde And yet they still do slow punches that don't contact against non resisting opponents. Also what are you talking about with "intent to aim", did you not see him going for the throat?

  • @Tyler_Lalonde-

Disciple of Khorne the over exaggerated punches. A sucker punch doesnt work when you see him whined up and throw it. It is as if they want to kill/ko him in one punch every time. Which yes people do but its not hard to see it like before; over exaggerated is done way to much in demos especially with knives and machetes. Watch live attacks on liveleak you will see.

  • @discipleofkhorne9472

Tyler Lalonde No shit it doesn't work, this was a demonstration of push dagger techniques with arm manipulations and not proper punching techniques. Nor was this a self defense demonstration as you can see by simply looking in the description.
