I really love the fluidity of the demonstrators' movements and the application of their technique. There's a lot to explore and it is very inspiring for me as a Kali/FMA practitioner

These multiple variations makes this a platform of which removes ones adversary quickly and effectively so you can defend against more than one attacker and be more effective in the realities of combat...

It's remarkable how similar Kali and Silat are. Although, I've been told they have common heritage.

Stick versus blade application are somewhat different. Obviously one is impact vs a slashing strike. I found the Villabrille Largusa style of kali the closest to the use of the blade. It’s not as eye appealing as other systems with the constant twirls but more so with direct strikes to finish the job in the shortest and most efficient manner.

Martial arts were not originally "self defense" minded. They were developed with battlefields in mind. If you catch an opponent without their weapon then that's an opportunity to make sure they don't find another one and kill one of your fellow warriors, family member, friends, etc. Many in modern times don't discuss this nature in regards to political correctness, but edged weapons were never brought to a field of battle with the intention of making new friends of old enemies.

Aikido doesn't break joints and doesn't do sweep; it doesn't block or parry; it doesn't have ground fighting and grappling like Silat. That's why Silat is the ultimate art form because it's much more holistic.
