Now, you're starting to get it! This is what Alabama fans have been saying and why the narrative around Alabama and the Vegas 9.5 win total makes no sense. The program Saban built is still in place and Alabama hired arguably the best X&O coach in the game. There is no reason for the success to not continue. It's all about making the right hire and I believe Alabama did.

Alabama recruits itself. If DeBoer wins it will be even easier in recruiting just like it was for Saban.

@@dustindavis4923 Back then Bama had limited scholarships and bowl bans due to sanctions. So yeah, hard to recruit when that is in the way. Alabama otherwise sells itself with hardware, facilities, tradition etc.

I’m glad people are starting to wake up to how great of a coach he is with the available talent. The talent he brought with him is very good. The center is undersized but clutch with his snaps and very mobile. Deboer runs very sophisticated schemes which require mobile linemen that can pin and pull, pull, trap and get out for screens. Oregon the past few years was the most SEC style defense and the huskies beat them every time. If you watch the tape the front 7 had no clue wtf was going on with all the RPO and O linemen doubling and then drifting downfield or running to different places. Bama will have a Qb that is a legit dual threat so I’m curious what he does with that. The back up QB he brought from the UW is also very talented. The new defense install sounds intriguing too.

Life long Bama Fan. I can't believe how good they are doing. Honestly I was thinking 5 to 8. They are now pushing for 1. No matter I think they definitely are going to end up in the top 3. WOW !!!!! He got his staff together in a hurry and they have been hammering it. He has brought New Life and a fire with them. They are hungry and having " Fun ". I can't wait to see this team. The schedule is really tough though. I think they could possibly lose 2 games. I think they make the playoffs and then watch out. They will be gelled and playing as a team then. NIL and the transfer portal has changed college football. It's tough for any team to be #1 in recruiting every year. Different times, but Bama will definitely continue to get their fair share of top recruits. Roll Tide!!

I love when people make the argument that DeBoer didn't over achieve with the talent level they had saying they had the best x, y, z... those WRs didn't have more than 700 yards before DeBoer, that QB didn't have 2,000 yards at his previous stop(although he was injured, penix was an awful prospect out of HS), and that OL was riddled with 3 stars... Troy Fauntanu was projected to be 4th round and became a 1st rounder, Nate Kalepo was a 3 star, Parker Brailsford was a 3 star, Roger Rosengarten was the best of them barely outside the top 100, Geirean Hatchett another 3 star borderline 4 star... Alabamas OL had 3 top 50 players on it last year in comparison and the bench had better prospects then Washington's etire line. DeBoer 100% over achieved with that roster in back to back years. year one they were projected to win 7 and they won 11.

Can't be said any better than that. I've had more arguments with people regarding Penix than I care to remember. I've heard so many people talking about "but but.......he was a top 10 pick blah blah blah.....". His completion percentage and efficiency in DeBoer's system vs outside of DeBoer's system are apples to oranges. What this guy has done against teams like Oregon, Texas and USC with vastly superior talent is nothing short of amazing

@@michaelbaker8633 I've seen where Washington was around the 30 percentile of blue chip ratio players. that would've put them around 5th in the pac 12 most talented rosters, which is near middle of the pack. it's quite remarkable what was accomplished. the only thing that was special about that team was the scheme. UGA's own "the film guy" does a wonderful breakdown of that as well.

When you have time look at KDB has done at Eastern Michigan, at Indiana, at Fresno...even most likely back then as underdogs ...when his teams have lost...his teams put up points. You must score 28 plus points a game to beat KDB. I believe like most ...the offense is SEXY. kids want to be in it full tilt. ...now if if if they can recruit the same sexiness on defense ...watch out...can they get elite dline men, backers, and secondary. Other than Saban himself who famously told Mal Moore "you're getting a sh!t coach, but I'll recruit my @$$ off". Now, that was a bit of hyperbole of course, but its also not out of the question to think DeBoer might be a better Xs and Os coach.

Aaron just had said something I want to touch on that is my one and only concern. Like Aaron said what made Saban so great wasn't just players on top of players one s leave another one just steps in. Did the same with coaches. That's what I am curious to see. If deboer lose coaches can he still get great coaches to keep it going.

DeBo lost asst coaches before he even started and had to replace them. Grubb, Huff, and Inge come to mind.

People give Saban more credit for coaching, but he was more of a strong recruiter and GM. In today’s league Saban would be a GM. DeBoer is better at X/O’s imo.

You got that right. What more could a coach ask for when taking over a team. Deboar grabbed the keys to that hot rod and took off. I am very impressed with how quickly he got his staff together and how GREAT of a job they have done so far. I can't believe they are pushing for the 1 class in his 1st year. Everything I am hearing about the program is positive. The recruiting class is a reflection of the energy and vibe going on at Alabama. I can't wait to see this team. Roll Tide for Life !!!!

He transformed the talent into NFL ready. MPjr wouldn't have been a first round QB without Kalen Deboer. Rome would probably be a late first rounder, but not a top 10 without him.

As a husky fan I can tell you, Deboer is probably the best coach in the country. He wanted the I Alabama job so bad he wanted it more than he wanted to win the National Championship game. He interviewed and accepted it the week of the National Championship game & then checked out. I am rooting for him to fail but I can tell you, he's the best coach in the country. Anyone who says Alabama should have hired Sark or Lanning is a certified moron.

Look, everyone has recency bias. WAY too many people thought Bama would die because they had only been good when Saban was there. Bama has been pretty much a national player for a hundred years. Did people really think Bama football was gonna become Ms State? Really? Saban didn't create Bama football and the Bama standard. He brought it back and those roots are so deep they are never gonna be far off. North Carolina, Kansas, UConn all are still highly regarded basketball teams every single year with many coaching changes. Oh, when Jim Calhoun retired Uconn was dead. No. Uconn is even better now. Lastly, no one will admit this. Saban was not saban anymore. He had lost a step. He had gotten old. Nothing wrong with that, it was inevetible. It was time to move on. He admitted as much. He had aged, he wasn't an NIL guru. His teams weren't dominant anymore. They weren't the well oiled machine anymore. Yea, they made the playoffs but as a Bama fan I knew Bama wasn't going to win it. Deboer has proven his worth at his other stops. You never know how coaches will work out. RichRod should have been a grand slam at Mich. but there is more evidence that Deboer will be successful than evidence that he wont.

Saban left the infrastructure in place. The new cosch inherited a loaded roster and is recruiting better than expected. Can't wait for the Georgia game. Georgia fans will absolutely lose it if Bama beats them and I think they will. I got Alabama going 11-1, with a win over the doggies at home.
