Cameras in many newer e-ink devices make also sense for using QR code applications. For example, I have a backup of my Google Authenticator app on my Onyx device... the advantage of open Android readers.

Reminds me of the time something was freaking out on my Air because the device wouldn’t give it access to the camera and I’m just mentally facepalming going ‘ _there is no camera_ (now how the heck to I get it to give me a code instead?)’ the annoying part is I’d actually used the code method on another device but for some weird reason it was adamant camera was the way to go on my Boox. It probably thought because the Boox was an android it was a phone so ‘obviously’ it had a camera unlike my laptop where it happily accepted a code instead.

What is your favorite? Bigme S6 Color+, Onyx Boox Tab Mini C, or Xiaomi 10.3-inch e-note 2023?

Please compare it to the tab mini type C. The Tab Ultra Type C seemed a lot snappier and the screen somewhat faster to refresh.

Since the boox tab mini c does not have sd card slot, I guess Bigme S6 Color+ win!

I'd really like to see you test these devices with Krita. You can test stylus pressure sensitivity based on brush thickness, and see if you can get a smoothly increasing/decreasing stroke. Also it's just a heavier application that realistically might get used, so it shows off whether the device has enough brains for it!

I’m kind of curious how newer epaper devices would hold up to CAD as well considering there was meant to be one specialised for that nine years ago apparently although it seemed to just kind of vanish.

I am an architect, and I would like to know if I can open normal PDFs with plan or section drawings with this device and draw on them as if they were printed on a sheet of paper. I can't find anyone trying to do such an action so I can't figure out if it is feasible or not.

Can you show a comparison between a b/w screen and a kaleido 3 screen side by side? I am still not sure what to get

When comes a good windows colour Eink tablet? Or is there already one?

I am struggling with eye pain from lit screens and trying to work out if colour e-ink is workable for me for studying. I find lower contrast and a more beigey background can be easier for me to read on. I thought colour would be better because I use colours a lot when note taking and diagramming, but I am worried if it isn't usable without the light on. Anyone have any experience with that?

This has a camera, is faster when playing with third party apps, (if the regular S6 line is anything to go by).. Bigme screens tend to be brighter and cleaner. Bigme devices tend to play better with third party apps and are faster in third party apps. So in that they're ahead of boox on that score. But the note apps are not on par. The abilities to manipulate and fine-tune shapes and texts will much more limited on this device than Boox (he just proved it in the review). There are no layers. And there isn't a separation between things that you drop in ...like shapes, pictures, text VC... and things that you don't drop in, like writing and drawing, with respect to the eraser. On Boox you have to lasso and specifically delete things you drop in. On Boox, erasers don't touch stuff like that. You can erase your handwriting and drawing. On Bigme that eraser will kill anything it touches... photos, text, shapes, you name it. That said, if there were a third party note app out there as good as Boox native app that I could use with this device. I would prefer Bigme.

@@rjsheffer2 a big thank you for your comparaison . mainly to read ebooks and simple note taking , no need color , I need crisper screen , long battery autonomy , and speakers for audiobooks . I like also customizable gestures … I had the tab ultra C which is a very good device , but a little to grey on black and white , to heavy , and perhaps should care about the battery too much . This day I ll test the boox nova air 2 All this is to replace my good kobo h2o v2 ( withe UI koreader )

@@rjsheffer2 Hello, and thank you for this detailed comparison. As a replacement for my Kobo H2O V2 with koreader, I'm looking for a good 7.8 black and white screen. Notes functions are not too important to me. I take quite a bit. I will need speakers for audio streaming to listen to audiobook. And I like having assignable gestures, like in the excellent koreader alternative UI, I had the books tab ultra Ç, it's a very good device, but I don't need the color and I find that its screen is too gray, that it is little heavy, and that its battery is weak - be a little weaker. Today I'm going to try the boox nova air 2 which seems to fulfill the functions I expect Thank you for all these tips. If you have any others, I'll take them!

Do you prefer this over any recent Boox devices?

Depends on whether or not the Boox Device has a camera. Generally I found bigme to play better with third party apps.. it's faster..you can write in them without even using the global pen, with minimal lag ..if you want no lag, use the global pen. Even the S6 color felt faster than the tab ultra c

Tip: You get set the floating bubble to stay open and you can turn off a bunch of the short cuts and just show refresh. I think Boox does it better, but I fiddled with it for a while and figured that out. :)

Now that the bigme has updated their software will u still choose boox over bigme?

What about its battery life?

Ghosting reduction + Extreme mode means we can finally have a fluid experience on eink devices ? I cant tell from this review ... ☹️

Looks veeery similar to the Boox devices. Also, looks very good! A worthy contender...

When it comes to the mini tab C the and the big me S6 color + it's almost an apples and oranges kind of thing. They're both kaleido 3.... And that's about it. Boox has a much better native notes app. The big me has a camera that plays nice with third party apps and you can drop pictures straight into third party note apps which is really good because it's native note app stinks. It all depends on what you want. You want to drop pictures straight into notes S6.. you can't imagine bothering with a camera on an ink device... Tab mini C.

This or PocketBook InkPad Color 3, whick one battery lasts weeks ?

They need to add the ability to take a picture directly into a note. Without having to step out of the note take a picture save the picture reopen the note drop in the picture.

Any Wacom or EMR pen plays nice with this device. I prefer this stadler jumbo. It just is write and erase. Besides, this device has so many ways to get to all those functions that you really don't need them in the pen. The pen for the Kindle works well on this as well as does the one for the Mobiscribe devices. Heck if you have a Samsung phone it works just fine on this.

​@@rjsheffer2 Hi, thank you. I ended up buying a Samsung S-pen for the s6 mini but replaced the nib with the one from the original Bigme pen. It's less bulky but the eraser doesn't work, didn't pair via bluetooth. Overall I paid a little too much for this pen, buying it original fearing not to buy a fake one at half price from sh market.

Yeah right. The Boox k3 Tab devices blow all of Bigmes out of the water

That hasn't been my experience. I have both and I've compared them at all the settings and all up and down the line for lights and as much as I love my Boox tab ultra C The screen on the S6 is definitely brighter and nicer for comic books.
