This is what I call Art in its purest form. Something that speaks thruth, something that brings emotions, something that makes people question or change their views of the world. Countless are the pieces of art that deserve this title. Some of them are beautiful, some of them are intentionnally horrid, Art is there to make us feel joy, sadness, grief, anger, fear, disgust, ... However, not many will deserve the place this beacon of Hope is going to occupy in my heart. And in many other's, I assume.

Bold statement: This is the the best song Kalandra has ever made. To me this is a perfect song.

It is undeniable that with the advent of the "Online Era", a lot of voices became much louder and much more influential, that sould've never been given clout and platform. Humanity as a collective species are hopelessly underprepared and overexposed to dangerous ideas which lead to hate, violence, divide, and even more divide. It's very difficult to stand for something, and NOT receive hate for it from others. Not even the idea of love can escape the scorn of the masses. Some will heed the calling, other will loath it, thinking "that love is not for us, it's for our enemies only". I believe that we must overcome the binds of tribalistic thinking if we want to survive an age where a single tweet or video can entice millions to take up arms against one another. Luckily, music like this one reminds me that we're not alone with these thoughts, we share a common yearning for peace and compassion. Thank you for brightening my day once again Kalandra!

"The State of the world has been on my mind. Demanding my conscience and all of my time. Was there ever an age where it all made sense? Or am i reminiscing bout lost innocents?" I've spent my whole life keeping my own council and keeping everyone at arms length. Seeing that i could not trust them or, if i could trust, they were too hurt to burden. So when a story i read and a song that i found rip from the depths that which i had thought smothered... who can i lean on? So forgive me as i shout into the void. "may forgiveness be given, despite the lives that were lost." There are a million and one things this could apply too today. I hear this line and only think of another line i read recently. "it's not your fault." In that story, long story short, a guy saves a girl from from ending her life. They fall in love, but her mind is damaged and she ends up taking her life later. He is devastated and blames himself for not realizing soon enough what she planned to do. A friend sits next to him and says "i know whats going through your head right now, and no. It's not your fault. you did all you could ever do and some.". That line "its not your fault." at its core is a plea to forgive yourself. In that stories case, it was true, but i get how hard it is to do. But in mine, i cant believe it. I can't give forgiveness because of the lives lost. It's, in a way, my fault. First was David, i didn't really know him all that well. We only had a few exchanges. He was special Edu and we didn't go to the same schools. But b/c i was kind to him, when we interacted, i think he though more of me than he should. One night after a Volleyball game i was invited to go play some street soccer. I was on my way outside when he asked if we could talk. i said no. i said i had my cool friends to go play with and walked away. We all found out the next day that he had ended himself the night before, the night before his birthday. If i had talked with him what would have happened? But i didn't, because in a way i found him less and couldn't be bothered. Next was a girl named Lauren. I didn't like her, her tough girl façade was annoying, but again i always tried to be kind. Her parents and siblings were all abusive. Found out she was a cutter, when at a party another friend pulled up her sleeves and showed bandages. I did my best to comfort her as she cried in the bathroom. a couple years later a group of us were walking around town and some how we ended up giving the girls piggyback rides and racing. Lauren ended up on my back. She told me i could put her down, but we were seeing who could go the longest so i said "I'll never put you down". Only now do i realize what that meant to her as she relaxed in my hold. Fast forward again, the last day i saw her. Her mom didn't come pick her up, so mine offered to take her home. we were in the center row she in the middle, me next to the door. As we drove she rested her head on my shoulder and i realized she liked me. But i didn't like her back. We go there and i got out so she could. She hugged me and kissed me on the cheek. Quickly walking away after embarrassed. I got back in the car, we drove away, and i didn't ever see her again. I moved away a couple months later and didn't think of her again till 9 year later. I was standing around a campfire at night with my brother and a friend. we were reminiscing about times lost. In an off handed comment my brother said she had died. I asked when and he said "it was a couple months after you moved. Her parents said she died from health complications, but no one believed that." i had to walk away. I cried for a good bit. "it's not your fault." but how can you believe that when you know you chose to not speak up. how can i believe that. If i had spoken to David, would he have ended himself? if i had tried to be a friend Lauren could talk too, would she be alive today? I didn't take their lives, but i didn't try to save them either. So it feels like it is my fault. its been 20 years since David, 14 since Lauren, and while i've been able to forget most of the time. weeks like these it boils up... When i see the state of the world. how everyone demands my conscious and all of my time. How all of it is insane and unhinged. Willingly sacrificing the individual for causes, ideology, and religion. I find myself thinking it all used to make sense, every individual persons life mattered. But the more i look back, i actually do wonder if all i am doing is looking back "reminiscing bout lost innocent's." and the world wasn't better back then. But it has to be right? It wasn't considered acceptable to wish ill on someone who didn't agree with you? it wasn't good to encourage delusions? right was right and wrong was wrong. 2 +2 =4. In the end all i can do is hope for everyone to wake up from the madness. That we would all embrace kindness in truth. i am doing the best i can to love everyone around me, but it feels like and endless uphill climb. I just want to be done with it all. I am so tired... The world doesn't seem to want to be saved, and there doesn't seem to be anything i can do to stop the rolling tied of madness sweeping everyone under. I just want out.
