Dark Phoenix Hakuouki is about a young girl trying to find her missing adoptive father and while looking for him, she encounters the Shinsengumi(you’ll recognize them if you know Japanese history, otherwise use wiki like I did 😂). It’s mostly her searching for her father and their experiences together. That series has my heart broken till this day. Can’t believe it’s been 10 years already. I feel old now. I recommend it. It’s based off an Otome series so the games are good too once you finish the anime.

Ugh, I remember skipping over this show so many times, but when I finally watched it I felt so angry that I avoided it- easily one of the prettiest anime I’ve seen in a really long time

GalactiCat I think it’s worth watching honestly,, I really enjoyed the show- especially if you enjoy the supernatural element in anime. It has some romance, but it’s nice that that isn’t the overall theme. It acts more like a plot developer

It's so sad when good anime go unnoticed. I watched The Morose Mononokean earlier this year and I started watching Kakuriyo not too long ago and they're both so good. I wish more people knew about them.

This anime was my first “modern” anime I watched back in 2018 and I fell in love with it. It’s still one of my favorites to this day despite me having watched many other anime by now.

This opening was so beautiful. Just the song itself was soothing. I wish they would have another season since there’s still so much to cover from the light novel. (I’m going to start reading those in the meantime 😩)

I loved this anime. Really wished more people watched and talked about it.

This was the first actual anime I watched and it will always hold a special place in my heart, it pulled me through a tough time in life and brought me so much joy

Lol!! When I started this anime, and Master Innkeeper took Aoi to the Hidden Realm, I got huge Spirited Away vibes, and then with the debt and her having to work to pay it off, it was like another Spirited Away, only with the characters being older! Spirited Away is one of my favorite Ghibli films, so this is now a favorite show of mine. Even the town looks so much like the City across the River in Spirited Away. ^-^

At 1:04 I always look up at my tv to watch just this shadow figure behind closed doors but turn into the handsome ogre god!!! It’s literally my favorite of the opening sequence!!

The buildup and chorus together for this OP is what makes it so good for me!! I definitely need to finish this anime.

I love this show - I just noticed in watching this opening when Aoi is standing outside on the porch and we see Odanna's shadow racing across the screens to emerge outside to be with her ....I wonder if the shadows are showing his "true" form. Never noticed that before. This is a great show.

Nao Toyama's singing in a song with hints of traditional japanese. Yes please.

Man... I watched this when it first aired and was literally one of my favorite animes of 2018 along with Violet Evergarden and Banana Fish. But like most commentators, it was very underrated. I enjoyed it very much ^^ ♡

I'm absolutely head over heels in love with this anime. I've had this song literally stuck in my head for days on end now and I love it. I really hope this anime gets a sequel and damn soon, because while the ending was good, it wasn't satisfying enough and left far more questions at the very end, than answers. It was still a beautifully done, totally awesome little anime though.

this was one of those anime that gave me the feeling that i had when i first started watching romance-like anime, for example saiunkoku monogatari, fruits baskets, nadeshko, fushigi, kamisama etc. It felt good and the fmc was actually interesting, also helps both op's slap.
