Remember that music is art, not technique. It's not some kind of silly competition about who's more expert in using an instrument made of metal, wood or plastic. Art is the ability to create emotions into the people, something that Kaki does very well IMHO.

Well said, shendue. I agree. Also, let us not get so lost in emotion that our technique is compromised and we play sloppy. Proper technique allows us to more accurately convey the emotions that we have, giving us better music.

Exactly. She does have talent, but she is not nearly showing her full guitar playing ability. However, this is a very creative haunting song with a uniqueness and emotion to it.

Thank you for the apology, that's very big of you. Sorry if I seemed harsh. I don't wish to bring hate to anybody, just to enlighten people about other great music. So many people live in this tiny little box musically and mostly just listen to radio. There is better music and if people hold themselves to a higher standard, then the music of the future will be better.

They aren't grown out, they are acrylic nails for strength and durability. I will agree she has hers very long and they look a little weird, but I will vouch for the awesomeness of acrylics. Once you have them it's really hard to go back. They improve your playing so much and most people don't notice them.

Honestly, i'd rather listen 100 times to Kaki then Andy Mckee. Don't take it wrong, he's great, and he outclasses (maybe massacre is the right term) Kaki in pure terms of technique, but his songs don't have even a bit of Kaki's empathy. She obviously put more then just technique in her songs, but it looks that many people that studied guitar for long time and feel themselves as big experts of the matter lost their ability to feel emotions listening to a song and just criticize its technique...

If you like kaki king, check out some people who do her style but do it right. Check out Michael hedges, Andy Mckee, many other people play this style but they do it better. They aren't women, but this is supposed to about music, not gender.
