I like how she keeps saying how she doesn’t want a rapist to decide how she lives, but she is anti-choice. Which is actively allowing rapists to dictate how women live.

And not every person in jail is in for violent crimes. Sure there are rapists and murderers, but there’s also people who were caught selling weed. My opinion is once they’re out they can vote, and if they’re in for non violent they can vote while in jail as well. Once they’re out they’ve served their time. They shouldn’t be punished further. Especially if the whole reason for jail is reforming people, which is the correct way to use jail. And if they’re in for non violent then it’s probably not that bad.

It's because our constitution mandates that the Presidential election day happen on the first Tuesday of November, so we would need a constitutional amendment to change that. A constitutional amendment requires a 2/3 majority vote in both houses of Congress, as well as a 2/3 majority in both houses in at least 34 states. So that's not fucking happening. Best we can do is just make it a federal holiday, but Republicans will fight tooth and nail to make sure it doesn't happen.

I live in a 3 world country (Mexico) and i think our election process is way better. I once told my mom how is in the US and she didn't believe me cause and i quote "is stupid". Here's how is done. First, voting laws are federal, no state can put regulations and although every state has his own electoral organ ALL of them are part of an independent institute, so no bullshit, EVERYWHERE gets to vote in the same way, by the same laws and follow the same arbiter rules. Now, how do You vote? Well, goes like this in Mexico we have a single universal ID, we called the INE. You get it once You turn 18, this ID is almost mandatory, You need it for EVERYTHING, jobs, renting, insurance, bank accounts, buying a car, getting married, everything so mostly every mexican over 18 has it. This ID is also used for voting at EVERY goverment level. The institute in charge of elections is an independent organ, no goverment can put their hands over it. Election day is ALWAYS sunday and is also a holiday, by law ALL business should allow their employees time to go and vote. The polls are in charge by regular volunteers citizens, political parties can have as much watchers they want in any given poll. About the polls, there are a lot of them, now You can only vote in the nearest to your house but even the smallest rural areas have at least one. In the poll the volunteers Will check your INE, if You're in the nominal list they give you the ballots, go to a cover place to cast it and then put it in the urn. Your name is crossed in the list and they put ink in your thumb (So You can't vote twice). Once the voting ends the volunteers count the votes, fill the formularies of the poll and the people of the INE gets the full package back to the office to compute all the results. The supreme court has an special organ for elections and in case of any further demands by any given party once the court rules them the INE certifies the winner. Is not that hard.

“Should a mass murder have the right to vote on gun laws?” I have a few problems with this question: First of all, she’s implying that the vote of a mass murderer is more influential than that of an individual. In a democracy, one individual’s vote cannot singlehandedly affect the outcome of an election, regardless of their former criminal activity. Secondly, I doubt that there are very many mass murderers walking free in the United States and that not having a gun is the only things stopping them from committing murder. But, for argument’s sake, let’s say that the vote of a murderer is more influential than any other individual vote. Let’s say that the fashion industry worked the same way that Ms. Bennet suggests our democracy does. Let’s say that someone influential like Ana Wintour or Kim K bought a Gucci dress. Their decision doesn’t mean that Louis Vuitton is going to go out of business. They are just one consumer, even if they are influential.

I have voted every time since I was 16 years old, my mother allowed me to vote with her papers because she wasn't ever interested in it and she knew that I knew a lot about politics. And I have a lot of friends who are interested in voting since they are 16. If they don't want to vote, they don't. I 100% think that 16 year olds should be allowed to vote.
