A LOT of his uniforms are in ‘Huis Doorn - the Netherlands’ where he spend the remainder of his life in exile after 1918. Sometimes the caretakers of this little castle put these uniforms on display, most of the time they are in storage. The corpse of the Kaiser lies there also, waiting for the monarchy to be restored in Germany... only then he will be buried in Germany... so, that will never happen! :-)

there is two problem about the germain defeat: 1st, they took Elsaß-Lothringen to french, Bismarck was against this idea because he knew it would lead to a French revenge ... his objective was a European balance to avoid war, but other leader of the german reich wanted more, and that was stupid... Elsaß-Lothringen was nessecaire only in the plan of the great germany, but finaly the kaiser choose the little germany (without austria) In fact, germany could have made France an ally against the British colonial hegemony . Or liberate more german territories of the austrian hungarian empire and russia, who would be far more profitable for das reich... second is the treaty of versaille who was far to hard (but understandable after millions of death) a light peace treaty could have avoided revanchism, and made this war the last european major conflicts... major european country could have just worked together to avoid another war like that....

@@kamikazestryker The thing is there are many opinions about this or what should have been done, but truthfully the Germans did not have any more favorable of a situation, and it was actually a bad situation due to the geographical location of Germany, even Bismarck realized this... The thing is, world war would have almost entirely been unavoidable, especially with the countries France, England and eventually Russia. Bismarck had helped keep the peace and stability, but France wanted revenge for the former war and victory against them and taking a territory of theirs. Also, England was becoming very watchful and suspicious about Imperial Germany's growing power and influence in the region and did not want to give up their hegemony over Europe. War would have one way or another been forced upon the Germans, even if Bismarck would have still been alive and had say in the matters.

Not exactly. There was the Austro-Hungarian Empire as well .And Turkey. And for a while Bulgaria. And the 101 other 'co belligerents' who fought ( for their own ends of course ) against France The Uk and Russia. The other thing as is that once Russia was knocked out of the war the numbers were fairly similar. Germany 13 million men + Ausrto_Hungary 7 million = 20 million. The UK 8 million + France 8 million + USA 4 million = 20 million. The Schleifen Plan failed because against German assumptions Russia was able to mobile and move millions of troops way better and quicker than German planners thought they could do. The French at The Marne surprised German officers when they organised the mass 'Paris taxi' move to the front. The 'Old Contemptibles' , who had had a few hard lessons in The Boer War , moved efficiently in the race to the sea blocking off the Germans . Yes the Germans could move armies quickly ( The had a very well functioning rail system ) . But so could the other powers. Nothing is clear cut and dried in History and the History of War.

0:50-0:57 - King Constantine of Greece (the Kaiser’s brother-in-law) observing German Army manoeuvres in Spring 1914 - just months before the start of the Great War. He was a graduate of the Imperial German War College (Berlinisches Kriegsakademie, 1886-1888) and had served in the Zweite Regiment zu Fuss (Prussian Imperial Food Guards) the uniform of which he is wearing in this scene. Greece would later find herself on the side of the Allies (the “Entente Cordiale”) and Constantine himself would be exiled for his pro-German (officially neutralist) sympathies. The aftermath of his bitter conflict with the charismatic Liberal statesman Eleutherios Venizelos was the beginning of great calamities for the Greek nation, and still resounds in the country’s political life to this day...

You can date the times when the videos were filmed by the types of uniforms. The dark uniforms are the dark blue, pre-1908 tunics worn with black trousers. Some of the fancy head wear is really rare, like the Garde du Corps helmets with the Eagles as a finial[they were heavy, uncomfortable and completely obsolete by 1914]. Those Leib Kuraissere helmets with the lobster-tail neck guards were pretty but equally useless by 1914. By 1918, most troops wore the Stahlhelm, the Pickelhaube was worn only on ceremonial occasions usually only by officers.

I feel so bad for history and especially the Germans. Just this year I visited Mexico for a months time and, quite surprised, I met a young 'German' woman who was not really German. Her parents were Mexican and had immigrated in the 80's, where she was born. All she had known was Germany raised as a Mexican. She attacked me for being American. She attacked me for patriotism. She attacked me for anything I sought to feel prideful over. When I asked her if she was proud to be German, she said no. She was not white and did not have any heritage worth lederhosen. She truly hated the country that had raised her.
