Kailia Posey From ‘Toddlers and Tiaras’ Viral GIF Dead at 16

Kailia Posey, a teen best known for a viral GIF and an appearance on reality show "Toddlers & Tiaras" has died. Kailia and her mother were featured on the TLC show, however, she was probably best recognized for a viral GIF of her as a little girl making funny faces. On Monday, Kailia’s mother, Marcy, confirmed her death on Facebook, writing, “I don’t have words or any thoughts. A beautiful baby girl is gone.” She was 16 years old.

Oh God. No. 🥺 I went to comments hoping it wasn't suicide since she looked so healthy physically speaking I didn't think she was sick, so sad. My heart is broken for her family. I tried to kill myself at 12,13+ my last attempt was at 16. I can't imagine if it had worked all the life I would've missed. This is a real tragedy. I wish she would've reached out/felt she could reach out to someone. So so sad.

My great-grandmother survived her first husband saving their children and then sacrificing himself by being struck by lightning. Then she remarried and had five more children. She took them swimming and one of them drowned. Then the following year her only daughter was stabbed to death by her husband, leaving her to take care of her three grandchildren under 5 yrs old. Her second husband passed away and then she remarried her third husband at 86 years old. He died two years later in bed next to her. She made it to 93 years old and I never saw her ever not smiling. She was the most peaceful happiest and most content person I've ever known in my whole life.

I've watched this girl for YEARS, she was such a funny, friendly and talented girl, when this popped up in my recommendations my heart sunk to my feet, it's insane that one day people can be happy and healthy and the next they can pass away. I'm so broken by this, she had a big future ahead of her and I honestly looked up to her a lot, she's one of the reasons I became a contortionist. RIP angel :(

My heart went out to this poor girl the first time I saw her mom on camera; my sense was that Kailia didn’t get to be a child, she got to be an object of her mother’s narcissism. We see this over and over again with child stars. The blame can’t all be shouldered by the parents, however. The entertainment industry exploits children until they’re broken and then tosses them away like toilet paper when they cease being highly lucrative. None of us know exactly what this girl was going through, but she was clearly hurting and couldn’t find some way - or someone to hear her - to express herself. A lot of people contributed to letting this little life down, and until we figure out how and why I don’t have much hope for preventing future child suicides.

As someone who suffers internally to a massive extent, I can say, I believe she is in a better place and no longer suffering. We would like to believe there is hope, and a solution for everyones dis-ease and unhappiness, but there is not, or at least, the end can be a solution, to look at it that way. Can you imagine, being put on such a pedestal, that you don't feel good enough at the age of 16? When I was 16, I was on top of the world, wrestling team, surfing, summers working at the boardwalk, I was confident, had the whole world at my fingertips. And to think that somebody at 16 would be so sad, feel so down, that they would do this is incomprehensible to me, but that's what pageant life does to children. I'm a single father, and the only thing I care about is that my son enjoys life. He's five going on 5, he still acts goofy he still acts crazy, he loves spider-man, he loves superheroes, he loves creepy games, and huggy-wuggy, and bendy, and I encouraged him with everything he does. He never has to be "good enough". I just want him to enjoy life. And that is exactly what pageant moms take away from their children. Because in the eyes of a pageant mom, you will never be good enough, you will never be pretty enough, you will never be smart enough. This is the eyes of a pageant mom, a failed person, who tries to make up for it with their child.
