On my quick release you need to put a little pressure towards the hub for the ding to work, it also has to be the GEN 2.0 quick release which it looks like you have the right one.

You running around these cars like "yeah i see this every day" thing. If you spot one of those over here you would pull your phone up to record that epic moment xD
