I admire Neil. There is an important lesson here. He had the educational background and experience in the philippines. His style is perfect for canada. Low profile but very capable in his line of work. He allowed the canadians to notice his capabilities and then upon seeing his skill set in the field, the canadians ,at that point knew they had a good man. In the past, I myself went through all the struggles of filipino immigrants in canada. It was just as bad if not worse in the 70s. Just like Neil, i was low key . Thats why i believe it is the correct strategy. Remenber, your ultimate target is to get your foot in the door, and when you get in, then you Can show them your skills. The panel interview members who hired me , ended up working under me after a few years. Mabuhay ang filipino.

I love your channel and I can relate to it. Yes, how I wish I can share my experience too, to new comers. It's one way of giving back. Tumpak na tumpak yung sinasabi ni Mr. Neil. Napagdaanan ko din yung sinasabi niya....I came here in Canada 2002 with a water engineering background and I was blessed that I was able to penetrate as City of Toronto employee- one of the 2 Pinoys who works in Toronto Water as Drinking Water Operator.

We migrated 20 years ago. My husband and my 5 yr old son. We landed here in Toronto. Canada has been good to us. We both got our masters degree and my son is now an Engineer. Our passion for education has opened so many opportunities for us.. Keep Learning. Goodluck to everyone trying to build their livea wherever u may be.

Kanya kanya talaga ng swerte, tiis, sipag at tiyaga at lahat ay nag uumpisa sa mababa. At ang maganda pa ngayon lahat at bar coded na ang aplication. Sa amin noon sulat kamay pa, caregiver ang pasok ko at tumagal ng 7yrs bago ako nagka PR at saka nakuha ang asawa. At saka ngaun, dami ng paraan para makarating dito.

Very true po lahat sinabi ni Kuya. We arrived here last Sept 2023 and it took 3 mos before my husband landed a job. I was lucky enough to be hired within 2 weeks after arrival. And so true na napaisip na umuwi nalang dahil sa stress. Ang dami pong pinagdaanan at pagdadaanan pa.

Ganyan di ako dati nangangapa ako kong san ako maguumpisa at kong sino kakausapin ko dahil tradesperson ako mrs ko naman sa acounting wala za idea about sa feild ko, nagumpisa malaman ko kong saan pupuntahan ko ng pumasok ako sa school doon na marami akong nakilalang mga skilled person na napapagtanungan ko hanggang makakuha ng lesensya at ngayon meron na rin maliit na electrical contracting business maliit lang na negosyo

Totoo naman same struggle maski noon pa. Pero depende pa din sa province yan. 10-20years ago magkaiba ang sitwasyon ng BC,ON sa tulad ng AB,SK. Mga naunang lugar kasi yan na dumami ang tao. Totoo yung sabi ng nauna nyo na interview na taga SK, 10yrs ago sa tulad ng fastfood, usually on the spot hired ka na.

mas mahirap talaga ngayon compared nung 20 years ago, kasi ang cost of living ngayon is much higher. pareho lang ang challenges sa paghanap ng trabaho gaya ng sinasabi nya but simply put, mas marami kang mabibili sa sweldo noon. and the worst sa situation ngayon ay ang housing costs. yun ang pinaka sobrang pahirap sa bagong dating...

Minsan kasi iyung nag apply ang resume nila ay threat sa position ng manager kaya hindi sila tinatanggap 😊 sabi nga nila lahat na raw CHIEFS wala ng INDIANS, puro na managers at supervisors wala ng workers😂

Pwede kaya mag apply husband ko? Dito pa po kami Philippines. Nasa engineering sector din sya

Very true. Lumaki na ako dito, it is much much improved now. Ang napansin ko lang most new immigrants have a sense of entitlement these days. I’m talking about all nationalities (especially non Filipinos), they’re angry because life is hard here and they expect Canada to give them everything. 🤷‍♀️
