Kahi - The Iraqi breakfast food extraordinaire
Kahi combines the delicacy of a beautiful Mille Feuille with all the profligacy of a glazed cream donut. However you perceive it, one things is for sure: Iraqis love it. Adore it. Can't get enough of it.

Remind me many years ago when I use to go work at six o;clock in the morning , I use to eat Kahi in South gate (Bab al sharji) Baghdad. What nice people they was. Christians, Muslims, Jews, all use to working to gather . I use to work at Hasso Brothers in Rashid street. The Golden days of Iraq will never come back again.

I spent 15 months in Iraq in 2007-8 as a Soldier. I would often be treated to grand meals by local tribal leaders and officials. Iraqi cuisine is simply amazing. I would love to go back one day, as a civilian in peace time

I am an Iraqi jew living in Israel and I am really happy we don't have a place selling them because if it wasn't a big deal making it I wold would white 200 pounds by now . I literally only make it once a year in the beginning of summer and it's a very special food to me. I really love Iraqi food it is so unique and fresh or slow cooked it is always bold and because of that there is 10 variations of the same dish each one has a different taste. You Iraqi people are really lucky people. I wish I culd have a samki masgoufa made in a real gafoff. Iraqis do what ever you can to preserve what is left of this wonderful land its your greatest treasure.

@@hussainrt3242 so weird I have never been to iraq or Baghdad but I feel like I have never left I can feel the wind from the river flowing through crazy palms with twisting trunks into my face carrying the smell of grilled fatty fish with earth and mint spices. Even though I am Israeli I feel alot of pride of being Iraqi this wonderful very old culture with a hart of an iraqi that feel like he can die from falling in love and know somewhere far away there is a hole contry that probably knows exactly what I am thinking about. What happened my frind? What happened to iraq? I pray that those who protected us from being killed or resisted us being flown to Israel and everyone who can see how that was the wrong way that god may protect them as well. How are you doing with the virus? Are you staying safe?

@@ronzloof really nice and beautiful words that you wrote my friend, yes we all have this never ending hope that one day, things will be right here, and everybody can come back to live where they belong, where their hearts belong. Our food is so flavorful !
gaymar means quark which is a variety of very rich clotted cream yes it's fatty but it isn't ' fat' as in lard or ghee, the concept is different I can get gaymar here in the UK not the fresh type but the tinned variety from Turkey which is much lighter and less heavy ( kaymak in Turkish ) That qahi is just a heart attack on a plate
