Kahà sákakhai / a traditional way of splitting bamboo / Tangkhul Naga / Khamlang village

In olden days, the Khamlang village used to practise this traditional way of splitting the bamboo. It was used to construct hut, basket, fencing and other decorative ornaments.
Performed on the occasion of Khamlang Baptist church platinum jubilee held on 13th of December 2018.

Try splitting such huge bamboos all alone with your knife...no pun intended....such traditional methods saves time and energy involved in carrying out such tasks. It also shows the unity of society within the culture.

Man can do many things alone but you need people to celebrate good, need people to share sorrow, to laugh with, to cry with, to love with, to hate with. Man is a social animal. He can live longer among his people then stuck alone with a smartphone or in some jungle.
