What a grand final. Both players played so damn great. So fun to watch. The crowd was amazing as well. Hurt was so close, he beats acola twice and still comes up second. But he’s a champ and a hell of a player

At the beginning of GF, the throne sits empty and the gods bleed. Who will take the crown? The fact that Mkleo and Spargo watch from losers side makes the narrative even more impressive.

I never thought we will ever see a grand finals without Acola.

Major props to both players. But Hurt especially I respect for going so far with such an abismal matchup

I’ve said it before: when Miya plays at his best he’s on a level above anyone or anything else we’ve seen in Ultimate. If I he can find that gear more consistently then I can’t see who will stop him.

Bro, Japans Piloting is top tier. Absolute peak and its not up for debate. Everyone has near if not perfect control over their characters and every game is intense. They also have more variety so you see more MU compared to here in the west whr its less variety.

He would’ve got the bracket reset if he just recognized that, crazy how even the best players in the world can mess up on simple things like that, amazing run by hurt though, watching him beat acola made be very happy.

Yea he has to account for a ton dealing with Miya. No grenades which can be an easy habit for snakes but he turned it off entirely. I don't think AK would have been able to give Miya this much work while turning off grenades.

Rooting for hurt because hes playing with half his moveset. Hed be scarier than fuck if he had a top tier secondary that countered game in watch. His game is harder than almost all of the other top players in japan. Playing snake already requires a ton of game iq. People dont realize just how tricky snake is to play at a high level. His game plan is more complex.

The fact that Hurt can switch play style is just amazing!! He be detonating grenades and C4 vs other characters but with GnW he be pressing more A button limiting his kit but still took it to game 5.

I believe this is the first time since Maesuma top 11 where Acola didn't make grand finals of a Japanese major. He got eliminated by Miya and KEN at that tournament.

I like to fill the bucket and force gnw to approach. Hell always take a bunch of nade damage and then 2 hits will take him out. It makes the matchup 50-50 but you dont realize that when ur stock just dissappears from 1 button

Seriously, Steve, Sonic, and Mr. Game & Watch ARE MONSTERS IN THIS GAME. THEY ARE SO GOOD WITH CONSISTENT WINS ALMOST ALL THE TIME. Steve lost ONLY BECAUSE HIS OPPONENT USED A CHARACTER WITH AN EXCELLENT COUNTERMEASURE AGAINST HIM, WHO SNAKES WITH HIS GRENADES. But, JUST FOR THAT. Afterwards, it is obvious that Snake would lose against Mr. Game & Watch, who is almost the third best character in SSBU with very good abilities and despite being light, Mr. G&W IS GOOD AND MAKES HONOR AND GOOD USE OF THE WORD LIGHT. It's about time, Mr. Game & Watch is the Grandfather of all in the world of video games, he deserved to be better in this installment after being so bad or mediocre in games prior to Ultimate. Also, I don't forget to mention that there is no perfect character in SSBU and that THERE IS NO REALLY GOOD CHARACTER WITHOUT A GOOD PLAYER BEHIND IT, MANAGING IT AS IT SHOULD BE AND TAKING OUT THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. Well deserved for Acola, Hurt and Miya to get THIS FAR FROM EVERYONE.

The 9 was entirely legitimate and planned counterplay. Snake has a super slow up b, so Miya realized that he could just use Judgment on it every time (and he did it many more times throughout the set). Judgment is usually too slow, but Miya found a niche for it in this MU. Quite clever, really. The ability to have a consistent way to hit Judgment because of Snake's up b all but guarantees that he'll get a 9 at some point.
