    It is amazing that a reduction of only 1.3 knots reduces the fuel consumption by 1/2.

    Ohhhhh, the possibilities. The places one could go, the sights that they could see, the people they could meet, the solitude they could enjoy... ohhhhh, the possibilities. Two weeks to cross the Atlantic? Yes please. A tiny, microscopic speck, afloat in a vast ocean, where horizon to horizon searches of land or life are always in vain, just seems so appealing, so alluring, and so terrifying. Ohhhhhhh, the possibilities.

    Looks like a decent alternative to a Nordhavn, I'm a little surprised it has both bow and stern thrusters with it being twin engines, probably because the standard is the single 225 though. For the commenter saying that it's "too slow" for blue water cruising, do you think a 58-63 foot sailboat normally cruises faster (other than a performance oriented cat)? That cruising speed is quite respectable for a full displacement hull.

    I am confused by the fuel burn numbers listed in this video, captain Steve! The 160 bhp JD, running at 2300 rpm uses about 32 liters per hour. With two running at full throttle, your observed fuel burn should be closer to 2x the measured 31 liters ...

  • @charlieodom9107

    @charlieodom9107

    Жыл бұрын

    You are assuming full load at specified RPM. The dual engine setup is probably ECU limited, not power limited, so the burn rate is different. Unless you can tell me that an engine burns the same fuel at 20% load as it does 100% load, then going by the posted fuel burn numbers on the manufacturer site is bad practice.

  • @lmyachts5238

    @lmyachts5238

    Жыл бұрын

    @@charlieodom9107 That does not make sense. 2300 rpm is 2300 rpm. There's no gear box other than forward, neutral, and back. And yes the engine is ECU limited by JD, which makes it an M3 or M2 or M1 variety. But still max rpm is max speed is full load.

  • @charlieodom9107

    @charlieodom9107

    Жыл бұрын

    @@lmyachts5238 nope! RPM and load are completely separate. A perfect example is a generator. Fuel consumption is based on load. Just because an engine is running at a certain RPM, doesn't mean it is running at any specific load. You should get on a real boat, instead of just looking at numbers on paper and making ignorant statements!

    trawlers don't use both engines at the same time. you alternate use each day. it's there for supposed safety, not for any additional speed or performance.

    Some people just can't get their heads around the speeds of a full displacement hull. This boat is for people who want to get into the slow lane and enjoy a quality experience. 6 knots crossing the Pacific is my idea of heaven, time is irrelevant, I want the journey to be long....that's the point. The journey is as important as the destination. At 6 knots this boat will take you something like 5350 miles...

    If you were retired and had the money and wanted to take long trips or do the great loop this boat would be ideal. This is a high quality vessel that has a classic look. It’s designed to travel very long distances. It’s built for big seas. You could cross an ocean if you wanted. It’s not made to go fast or look like the new euro style of boats like an azimut.

    It depends what you want your boat to do. Do you want to hop along the coast, have days out fishing, be able to out run some incoming bad weather....well this isn't the boat for you. If you want a live aboard, capable of being stable and comfortable in a blue-water environment...even in bad weather, have the ability to cross any ocean on the planet in comfort...then this boat is one of not very many capable of delivering that. This boat can take you from California to Hawaii to French Polynesia...with all the comforts of home.
