A test of the Emergency Broadcast System from KABC-TV, the ABC affiliate of Los Angeles, California. I’m not 100% sure of when this would have aired, but I think it’s 1987-ish, at least according to The Lost Media Wiki.
This a slightly different variant of the familiar EBS test already known from KABC-TV: • EBS Test - KABC-TV 7, ...
The main differences between these two tests are the different announcer, the test script being in yellow and a different font, the script scrolling on a light blue background instead of a dark blue one, and the slide being shown during the attention signal appearing and disappearing via a wipe transition instead of zooming in.
I’m not sure if both of these variants were used in tandem or not, as the other variant was also used as late as 1991. Also note how the test script still advises viewers how “you would have been instructed where to tune in your area for news and offical information”, despite the FCC dropping the requirement for most stations to shut down during a national emergency years earlier.
