The BK-9 is now a time tested and proven design. If you are going to haul around a great big bad arse knife to chop and baton with I say this one is an A++ choice because it doesn't break, it works, the ergonomics are good, and the price isn't insane. There are a lot of worse options out there.

Great review Tactical. The sheath in this video is KABARs old sheath. Over a year ago they switched to a similar but better sheath with Molle. So by now most BK9's will come with the new sheath.

I have 2 a new one and an old one. I stripped the new one to find a hidden stonewashed blade. My older one escaped the factory without bring stamped, so its unmarked entirely. I did research and Ethan himself said it was an uncommon occurance for some of his blades.

I know I'm late to the party, but as far as the handle goes, stippling it is probably the best, cheapest way to fix that slippy texture. Just takes a bit of time, no extra cost. Just make sure not to make it too aggressive so you don't hurt your hand. Even hockey tape would probably work pretty good from what I've seen. Idk how long that lasts though, I'm waiting for my BK9 to come in the mail at the moment and I definitely plan to stipple it. I also believe they've upgraded the sheath since this video was made, making it tighter fitting, and the issue with the straps being cut when the knife is drawn fixed. Then again I might just buy a 50 dollar custom kydex sheath for it some day. Yeah it increases your cost a lot, and puts you in the range of the Esee Junglas and Cold Steel Trailmaster, but a custom kydex sheath is better than what those come with anyway and I prefer the size and style of the BK9.

  • @mercifulone7065

I love my BK9. It my go to do it in tool. It is a hell of lot better than my wife, it does what I ask it to do and never complains. Great knife. I would highly recommend it. Sheath is OK, not great, but it works. If they increase the price by $15 and ass the micarta handles, this knife will kill knives that cost double that price.

Great review of this beast Tac! Your videos are hilarious....."Here comes a car....." I just received a new Becker BK9 because I was interested in the comparable length against the Ontario SP51. Also the saber grind, full width handle tang and pommel. But I have to say I am kind of disappointed in the thickness and handle feel compared to the 1/4" SP51. The BK9 handle feels a little short and I don't have huge hands. My only knock on the SP51 is the handle tang as I'd rather have a full width tang on large fixed blades. But after owning the SP43, SP46, SP49 and SP51 I am absolutely sold on 5160 and it's toughness. I don't know if Ka-Bar's 1095 CroVan can match Ontario's 5160. Any chance you can do a review of the SP51?

I found your channel while surfing KZread, I like the way you do your reviews. I am not much of a gun guy but I enjoy your knife videos, real cool. I mostly play with folders, in fact I have no medium to large survival/camp knife, but I am looking for a good camp knife. Traction on the handle is a big element for me because I have early arthritis in my hands and so I can't always grip as well as I want to. That all to say, I have never heard of "Ranger Bands" to help with gripiness. Can you provide any more info on exactly what those are and where you get them?
