Thanks a lot for this video, (I haven't watched the whole vid yet) Kaalia recently caught my eye as angels, demons and dragons are probably my three favorite creature types, and kaalia herself is an extremely powerful card. Very good deck! Also very expensive though (comes with the power level). I'm building a (semi?) budget version of her with the cards I have on hand. It's mostly Angels though since they're my favorite creature type. Still, very nice job!! I've been wanting to play Kaalia since I first started playing in 2012!

Hi @Benoît Le Cuff, thanks, I'm glad you found my deck tech was helpful.

Ditch sneak attack and put in chromatic lantern or quick silver amulet, consider putting in brought back as well. Ideally you want Kaalia turn 3 with haste, with switf foot boots or fervor down by turn 2.

Brought Back is pretty neat inclusion. I try not to have a 3 MV rock as I want to play a rock on turn 2. Sneak Attack is a pet card of mine I just love to use, but I do agree, it's cuttable.

Hi @Michael Falzon, thanks for checking out my deck tech. Yeah, I like the extra combat cards where you can trigger Kaalia again. I wanted to put some in my deck but that wasn't the direction I wanted to take my deck. However, I would highly recommend adding in those extra combat cards if you want to take your deck in that direction. Just remember to keep your creature count reasonable so they are effective. I don't really recommend the double striking cards because it feels like a "win more" card to me. Good luck with your deck and tell me how it goes.

I would consider Tainted Strike over Savage Beating. Combo this with Gisela, Blade of Goldnight.

Ancient Tomb with a signet can let you cast Kaalia on turn 2 if you have the right mana combination!

Hi @fooltube9999, that is correct, there is a slim possibility to get Kaalia out on turn 2. But why stop there, might as well do Mana Crypt into Sol Ring into mana rock + Chrome Mox + Land = turn 1 Kaalia. 😆

Kaalia is a very casual commander in comparison to many many other cedh decks. If you’re considering casual play power level then yeah, kaalia is pretty damn good. However there is a pretty good kaalia cEdh build out there but it only uses 4 demons.

I wonder how different the power level of the deck is when running the other Kaalia? It would be amazing to have a deck with two interchangeable power levels as you mentioned at the beginning!

Judging by the fact that he runs 13 mana sources in 99 cards and only Arena to draw i say that the difference is huge. A deck based on the 3 cmc Kalia would have much more draw (5-6 spells in total plus Dark Confidant), 3-4 more mana rocks and a better selection of them in general (Mana Vault? Palladium Myr? Thran Dynamo?) and a third tutor or even a fourth. A robust blink engine would be needed too.

Hi @Abdulrahman Bastaki. That's a great question. The power level is really different as you don't get the cheat any creatures into play and have to pay full retail for all of them (except with Sneak Attack, etc.). I always try to have decks with two interchangeable commander, it's really fun and it really allow you to adapt to the power level of the group you are playing with. For example, replacing Niv-Mizzet, Parun with Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind. There's a big power jump between the two, just like the 2 Kaalias.

Couldn't you use blade if selves to myriad token copy's of kaalia but because her token still etb and then poof out of existence they still hit her ability

Hi @Jake Friedland, thanks for stopping by. I would recommend skipping Odric and try to stick with budget Angel, Demons, and Dragons. For example: Angelic Skirmisher, Demon of Loathing, or Drakuseth, Maw of Flames.

It’s extremely rare to play Kaalia on turn 2/3 and attack turn 3. I would say 1 out of 3 games I attack with Kaalia turn 4.

I just loved Akroma's many keywords, its one of the cards I've always wanted to play in a deck. I know she's not "optimal", but that's the beauty of Commander, you can customize to your tastes. Hi @Clark Schwarz, yeah, I would put Whip of Erebos into the deck, it looks like a fun card to have and can help you recover from a wrath. I would always recommend trying cards out and if you think it's too clunky, you can always remove it later.

not a bad inclusion, but i personally think that you use your artifacts to ramp and color fix. if you want the life link there is baneslayer angle

@@demon2808 I personally prefer Lyra Dawnbringer over Baneslayer bc Lyra is a baneslayer without the protection (which is often useless) but she can also pump all of your angels and give them lifelink, which is worth it if you even have one other angel.

10:56 ferver is a risky card it gives everyone haste. play purphros hammer it does the same thing but only your creature. you should play sensei top and scroll racks for cards filter. some of your demon are under power

VEX MTG ah I just love kaalia because angels and demons are my favorite creature types. My favorite way to play is with big memey shit so platinum angel is ridiculous. For example for 60 card I play eldrazi that gives you an idea of who I am.

VEX MTG sounds good I will. I have last two things to last things to say. 1) I would love an eldrazi deck tech (casual not commander) and 2) have you ever considered demon of loathing and pestilence demon for the kaalia deck? Those have both won me multiple games on their own

I'm in the works of making a new series for building non-EDH constructed decks and I will put Eldrazi on the list. As for the other demons, I did consider Demon of Loathing, but not Pestilence Demon, but they sound like fun cards to have in the deck.

Play more 5cmc because people tend to destroy Kaalia istantly because they know the bombs that you can play with her. So they destroy her and you go far behind from other players.

Hi @MrIkillgamers, the deck is about $1750 market price as of today (Nov. 18, 2020). You can bring that way down by removing some of the original dual lands.

Honestly to make it a bit budget just remove the duals and maybe a fetch

Hi @J K, thanks for checking out my video. Hammer of Purphoros would be a good replacement for Fervor. The reason I picked Fervor was because it was just an enchantment and not an artifact, there's more artifact hate out there than enchantment hate (at least in my play group). A small bonus is that it has an easier mana cost to cast, R vs RR.

maybe some ideas for your kaalia to consider: Reconnaissance - white enchantment to get your kaalia triggers and remove her or any other creature from combat immedeatly if needed Rakdos Signet - you already run the orzhov and boros, dont see why u shouldnt run the rakdos and cut fellwarstone Quicksilver Amulet - artifact for 4 with t4 to cheat any creature from your hand into play just as one more way to get you playing if kaalia gets to expensive to cast, upside you dont need to sac your creatures like with sneak attack downside well 4mana to activate Bolas´s Citadel - cheat everything into play from your deck till you hit the 2nd land nuf said ^^ City of Brass, Mana Confluence, Cavern of Souls - just straight up better than some of your actuall land imo like the horizon or checklands or a couple others since they get you all 3 colours instead of 2, and cavern even if only colourd mana for kaalia gives her 1 more layer of protection when you cast her

Hi @Sv He, thanks for checking out my video and adding some really insightful recommendations to the comments. I agree with all your recommendations. (I added Sneak Attack in because of it being a Double Masters card for the theme).

As someone who has been playing kaalia for a while I would not recommend master of cruelties. The only time he is good is in the beginning of the game when your opponents have no blockers. But at that point, do you really want to make someone leave the game on turn 4 or 5? Late game he does nothing if opponents have any blockers and they most likely will. Other threats are way better imo

Hi @Clark Schwarz, good point, I wanted to include Master of Cruelties for the epic destroy target player moment! I do agree, there are much better threats out there. Thanks for the insight.

Your draw w dead T2 shows why to run 6 tails men / signets. All the mediocre creatures in your hand like Sephora and Reya are better off being signet and tutor. Instead of doing nothing T2, you drop a signet. T3 you cast commander and have mana remaining for tutor, go get MoC. T4 you win if OP cannot disrupt.
