K1 | Climbing one of the hardest mountains in the WORLD

Спорт

Masherbrum, although once called K1, is not the highest. It is hailed by locals as the Queen of the Mountains, perhaps because it is so inaccessible. While the world's highest summit of Mt. Everest has been reached countless times, only four expeditions have ever climbed the extremely dangerous peak of Masherbrum, the last in 1985.
37 years later, a Czech expedition is attempting to conquer one of the most impressive mountains on the planet. Radoslav Groh, Marek Holecek and Tomas Petrecek want to climb a new alpine-style route on its west face. Will they succeed in captivating the Queen? "Now the answer lies upon us, also in the stars, and who knows, perhaps a blessing must come from the royal court.
The ball has begun, where we shall try to cheer, dance and soften the Queen. At the same time, we beg for indulgence that we intend to intrude into her presence, when our steps will be clumsy, lacking in elegance, ignorant of good manners or the ethics of the royal court. But a heart full of apprehension, also full of passion and determination to seek her favor. Keep your fingers crossed, there we go..." Marek Holecek, 7. 8. 2022, Karakoram

Thanks for making this film. Masherbrum, at 22nd highest in the world is one of "the second 14". As the first 14 become more and more of a circus of guided parties each year, my armchair mountaineering interest is redirected to what's being done by serious mountaineers on peaks such as this one. Your film brings me along for an impressive ride.

K1 is the real deal only 3 sumits ever recorded with the last in 1987!! Meanwhile k2 has had a day where 90 people summited in 1 day. Most likely drug up the mountain by their sherpas

Matt Cornell, Jackson Marvell and Alan Rousseau's 2023 ascent of "The Wall of Shadows" on Jannu is about as impressive as it gets.A route like that won't ever see guided parties on it who need help putting on their crampons, which is more than can be said for most of the 8000ers.

Thank you for this wonderful documentary. Really enjoyed it. With so much press coverage on K2 and Everest, and with increasing numbers of climbers on both of those two mountains each year, it is refreshing to see a production like this on an extremely difficult and incredibly challenging mountain, that very, very few people on the planet have the skill and fortitude to attempt to climb. Bravo to the climbers and the film production team!!

Yes, thanks for this! A really remarkable effort by the climbers and also one of the best short climbing documentaries I’ve ever seen. Lastly, nice to see a representative example of the reality of a lot, if not the majority, of such climbs. Most such videos feature only the summit successes and, in my opinion, give a skewed perspective of the activity, especially to non climbers. These guys made a great success: they gave it their best effort, recognized it, and came home alive😊

The view near the end when you named K2 and Broadpeak and so on reslly helped give perspective of how all these mountains sit together. Lovely video. Well do to everyone. That sugar powder snow looked well scary at the end.

Beautiful video, thanks for sharing. Masherbrum is the most beautiful, imposing mountain I've ever seen, much more complex and dangerous than K2, and with the summit horn constantly blowing a plume of snow while the face catches beautiful light...I couldn't stop photographing it.

I'm not a climber, but this is a magnificent film. It's also a fine reason for not taking up climbing in my book, if it's to involve such crevassed ice, cracked seracs and foothold-free snow over jagged rocks! Enjoy, y'all; I'll enjoy the landscape from the foothills.

It´s a stunning documentary film of the K1 ascent made so naturally with a indisputable vibrations💪 ....well done as for the camera, climbers´ comments, experience, background sounds and a whole flow and concept of the film🙂...and mainly you have performed and reached an altitude as much as possible taking into account a relatively safe descent back to lowlands with open possibilities to try other ascents in the future 🗻! Great performance and this is where we can really use a wise saying of some very advanced climbers who scaled or tried to scale similar or higher peaks that says: the major goal is to return, not to reach a summit !👌👌

Our local movie theater has one screen that is so dark (the projector somehow has a defect, I guess) that I refuse to watch movies on it. I just go ask for a refund if the film I came to see is in theater 3. This movie is like that, waaaaay too dark. Why? Who knows. But it's not good. Too bad, it's otherwise an interesting trip account on a monster peak.

Great Documentary. Cinematography is good, but the color editing is unfortunately awful imo. The snow, The sky, The landscapes in those regions are so beautiful and pure. this color editing kinda ruins the pure and natural visual beauty. K1 is such an underrated mountain. Nothing beats K2 for me, but this mountain is also majestic and beautiful too.
