In the early to mid 1900’s we were struggling to find stability and work in the south. As another brother in the thread pointed out there’s a train that runs till this day that’s a straight shot from Louisiana to L.A. That’s why you see the Texas, Louisiana and L.A. connection. Further East many of us migrated up to Pittsburgh, Philly and NYC by train as well. Kev Mac you’re segueing deeply into black history/culture and I pray your supporters take what you’re providing as motivation to learn more about our/their history not just the streets but I’m cool with the streets as a starting point. I try hard to promote your channel and as far as I’m concerned you should have a million subscribers but unfortunately in today’s society we’d rather be entertained than educated . Keep the content coming because I promise all of this will be in educational archives for generations to come.

This is gonna take me back to 88/89. We lived on bellhaven and 92 in the bebops apartments. We was the 3rd Hispanic family living there and I remember a hole lot of shooting and I learned about bloods and crips. At that time I was going to 96 street elementary and I used to walk home with my black friends and we used to get jammed up by the hat gangs because we lived in in the bops.I learned how to fight,I learned what gun shots sounded like, I learned about the ghetto bird, and I saw my friends older brother dying from multiple gun shots. Yeah it was active back than and I had black friends who were real cool with us. I remember 1 in particular they called him sugar bear from bebop. We moved out in 90 back to south central and lost contact, but I heard through the grape vine that he got life. I'm really looking forward to watching this interview.Good looking out kev mac

Tahlid El Shabazz you hit the nail on the head. During the 40-60s we migrated in huge numbers from the south. New Orleans(mostly) and Texas took the train to LA while the south east migrated north in search of work and stability. August Wilson really spoke on this in his plays(king hedley, seven guitars). So much black history being touched on far beyond the streets in Kev’s videos.

Man I am on the East coast, I remember my big cousin who was from the West coast coming back to Baltimore to visit for the summer, back in the late 70s,we were like brothers I looked up to him, would do anything for him, fight, whatever, hated when he would leave back to California, well eventually he stop coming back to visit and I found out he was in a Gang,he started doing time in prison as well,I do know he was in San Quentin for a long time,I do remember seeing a photo of him and he was huge from throwing around that iron,I also found out he hated me calling him Cuzz! Back in those days never saw same Gangs warring,I respect all the real OGs on that West Coast, back then that's all you heard about was the Bloods and Crips Warring,my mother my cousins aunt wouldn't let me visit California, lol writing on the wall! Much respect to these survivors!

@Kev Mac .... I think you need another Blood with y’all when you interview Damus.... dudes can say we all grown up now & that’s cool..... but there’s always slight tension early on with Damus during the beginning stages of the interview. I think you oughta hook up with Skipp Townsend on future Damu interviews. Keep Baby S-Mac & Melly, but just add Skipp to help relax the Damus. Plus he’s a known & familiar Blood to all the OG’s. I ain’t nobody at the end of the day, but it’s just a suggestion.🤷🏽‍♂️

I do see a little tension in the beginning of some of the anti crip group interviews (mainly the ones who are actually under the blood handle.) The combination of the line of questioning plus the history of bloodshed and animosity could possibly cause a knee jerk reaction at first. They're all grown men, but everyone wants the history of their hood represented well. When those questions come, it may feel like the hot seat, especially from someone you don't have a relationship with or know too well. We know Kev is just trying to give the most accurate history though. I saw a little tension at first during the BSV interview also, but it lightened up. Big ups to these guys for stepping out and coming on KMV.
