It seems as if Mariano is depicted here as a guy of significant prominence in town, a, "padrone" (lord?) whose family may have been wealthy enough to own tracts of vineyards and orchards, perhaps a present day throwback of the old time lords and dukes of Italy then? This could have been, as shown by the second ad (the one in which he lives in a spacious mansion, and kisses his reflection off the mirror).
