JVC RC-M70--the best mid sized vintage boombox ghettoblaster

Ғылым және технология

This is my personal favorite boombox. Its the M70, 6 inch woofers, 2inch horn tweeters, all controls are slides on top, the perfect classic boombox! this is my best one, with the original strap and manual as well, its a showpiece imho--enjoy!

I am stoked....... I still have mine 35 years later. I was the coolest and most annoying person in grade 11. The stories it could tell. I bought it for $500 and am surprised to see I could probably get close to that now. Great radio and I still use it today.

Bought my first on Okinawa in 1980, 3 months later it was stolen in my barracks. Went out and immediately bought another and still have and use it. Still have the original strap and blue vinyl carry case I've never seen shown.

The same box I bought in 1981 while stationed at Keesler AFB in Mississippi.Paid $225 ( my entire paycheck!) for it.Still have it almost 40yrs later. The only thing it needs is a new belt for the tape deck.Multifunctional.I used to hook up another box ( Panasonic) to it to dub tapes. Also used to hook up my turntable to it to play vinyl.Best box ever made.

I'd hope it'd sound better than iPhone speakers. Kind of a weird comparison to make. It's like saying an SUV is better transportation than a skateboard. They live in different realms.

Anything sounds better than the crappy speakers in cell phones! I was referring to the clarity of listening to music from my headphone jack compared to just listening to the radio

I have two of these, the JW 40W and 47W L version which I bought unused new/old stock, still boxed with all the stuff that comes with it, yes even the JVC C90 tape and shop display plaque. Lovely sounding machine and so well made.

Just FYI when you press music search and the red LED lights up you are supposed to select how many tracks you want it to skip and then while holding play, press either rew, or FF. Then it will skips past those tracks or rewind how ever many songs you told it to, then stop and play. That's why it's muting

The MACDADDY. The only other boom box ever heard with IMO better sound especially for BASS. Is the AIWA CS-80. Marketed in the U.S and UK.as the AIWA TPR 950.

I had one when I was 20 years old and it was the best stereo I owned. However trying to find one now that works properly is almost impossible. The slide controls go bad almost all the ones listed the cassette does not work which could be the circuit board or the cassette mechanism itself. These things had their day and unless completely refurbished and restored it's over

Wow, you are extremely lucky to have one of these. Never heard of it before. Checked eBay, the very few that are listed are in moderate condition, tape function does not work (typical belt degradation issue?), and are sort of pricey, but so not worth it if you don't know or aren't comfortable repairing. A couple with the M90 are like the price of buying a DSLR or gaming laptop. Really like these vintage units, but as we know, they are antiques but goodies, if well cared for. Video resolution does no justice here, but good (audio) demo though. Just how rare is this unit, really? Only 100 ever made, maybe? Oh, how well does it record from the internal microphones, and does this unit record equally well on CrO2 and Metal Particle? (Hint: Look for something like METAL on the tape door; for instance, Magnavox also has LONG LIFE HEADS in smaller font, as found in the Power Player D8443 model.) Very seldom do people on KZread post videos demonstrating the microphone and tape bias recordings; almost always the radio, or playback of a tape recorded from input or CD. Maybe most people don't even know the boom box even can record "live." Again, in spite of the video quality, you can make out the left and right internal microphones, above each speaker. Yes, they can be confused with tweeters, as the design of the slits, as in this unit, doesn''t have engraved or printed MIC or CONDENSER MICROPHONE.

It's NOT a boombox. That is a jam box, the style before they started making them shorter and deeper to get more room behind the speaker. Tall and flat like that one is a jam box, or as LL calls it "my radio" and if your gonna do a video like this, pick the thing up and sport a pose with it please.
