@@shaktincredible You are right, thanks, although it felt like the actual final, and it truly is one of Sharapova's finest performances. It had to be, considering Justine was Number 1 at the time, in-form, on a 32-match winning streak and already a 7-time GS champion! In all fairness, the final score does not tell the full story. On the other hand, Sharapova served bagels and breadsticks in 2008 AO like a bakery that's about to close. I would love to watch both of Justine's and Maria's full matches from that tournament, highlights would not do them justice.

Henin has the greatest one handed backhand the game has ever seen, of men or women.

Missed this seemingly ethereal beauty of a lime-green a tennis court

I remember Sharapova had a bad record back then going against Henin and Clijsters. But, in the US open swing she beat Clijsters for the first time to win in San diego and Henin in the US open Final.

Well, she ended her career with a pretty decent record against both. 4-5 vs Kim and 3-7 vs Justine. Also, 5 of Henin’s 7 wins over Maria came when Maria was 17 and 18. I’m sure Maria would have had an even more competitive h2h vs Henin as they were dead even outside of clay.

Watching Henin I understand the comparisons to Barty. But watching Barty play and watching these highlights you would think that Ash was a better player than Henin which I dont think is true. Just the change in the game and how it's played

Big fan of Barty. Peak Henin would have beaten her quite comfortably though, as she was a match for peak Serena, arguably the GOAT, and im not sure Ash was ever quite that good.
