I'm Puerto Rican and Cuban and I am a proud Nigerian Yoruba descendant, who practices the Yoruba religion. My African ancestors survived slavery, bringing their religion, food and beautiful genes to the New World. Gracias mi antepasadas Africano por todos, I love my ancestors and give them praise everyday💋🇵🇷🇨🇺

Hi Martinez. I'm so passionate about being Nigerian Igbo descendant. I was born in America as some would call it African American. I prefer calling it a Nigerian that was born in America. My ancestors once worked the farms in Virginia then later sold to another slaveowner who brought them to Mississippi. Nice to meet you

Celts were in the beginning, almost all over the Iberian peninsula (today’s Spain and Portugal). The were the Phoenicians, the Greeks,Romans, goth,Visigoth,Jews ,Muslims(mostly they were natives who converted) After the “reconquista” (re conquering), Muslims and Jews were banned (thrown out). An the hole territory was repopulated with people from the north (even France and Germany). In Spain you’ll find the oldest city in the western world Named “Cadiz”founded by the Phoenicians (over 2000 years before the birth of Jesus Christ ) by the name of “Gadir”. So, the biggest civilisations of the antique world passed thru the Iberian peninsula (called Iberia by the Greeks and Hispania by the Romans, since “hispania” was,a province of Rome)Two of the most known Roman emperors, Hadrian and Trajan, were borne in what today is the south of Spain (near Seville). So much for a little information about the country of some , of your ancestors. There is lot of history in these wonderful country (thousands of years and more). Hope I wasn’t to borrowing or pushy. Greetings from Spain. P. D. My last name is from Galicia. Greetings.

The test showed I had 12 percent of my genetic makeup was African even though you cant see any of that in any of us. I was just as surpised to have 19 percent Native American and 27 percent Southwest Asian ancestry. The rest being a mix of Northern European and Mediteranean Spanish/Italian. I have been wanting to do one on my son , my wife being Mexican with Lebonese Ancestry. We are all mixed. If people would accept that Racism would die.

Not surprised by this actually, studies show ~25% of Puerto Ricans have African mtDNA haplogroups, while the majority have Indigenous mtDNA haplogroups (~60%), and a smaller minority (~15%) have those which originate in Europe. Paternal haplogroups in Puerto Ricans are about 85% European, and 15% African, and 0% Indigenous. The pattern of Indigenous ancestry being derived from maternal lines is common in colonial contexts.

However, most of us Latinos know and are proud of the fact that we are a mix of indigenous, Spanish, *and* African blood :) would it be inaccurate to say that most people today have a percentage of African DNA? It doesn’t surprise me when Carribean/Islanders have black decent. Most do not know that they do and therefore do not claim their black brothers and sisters as brothers and sisters, though we all are. That’s why most of the world still doesn’t know Afro Latinas exist due to closer African dna (tighter curls/darker skin) being shunned outside the family and not shown in the media. Only difference is a boat stop and a developed culture. We develop a culture whererver we go.🤷🏽‍♀️ All race backgrounds, colonization languages, and mixes considered. I love when we love each other instead of being against like a colonized mindstate would have us.
