According to Pete Mundo (HCS), he was the one who asked specifically if “open for business” meant further expansion for the Big XII just an FYI

I just watched a video this morning about the formation of the very first college athletics conference. The conference was founded with the purpose of insuring that college faculties would control college athletics. They founded the "Intercollegiate Conference of Faculty Representatives", which today "markets" itself the the "B1G". Now, I watch this video about an athletic conference, the Big XII, which states that its primary purpose is to encourage members to receive as many dollars as possible, and to do whatever it takes to get those dollars. This is progress?

Memphis is a definite possibility by adding a new state. Adding a Louisiana school to bring that state into the Big12 is possible. California would be huge for the Big12. Adding a fourth new state may center on Las Vegas. ESPN will rework the ACC deal to mirror the Big12 deal plus the ACC network without any Fox being involved. ESPN already lost the B1G content and PAC content. They now have the ACC, SEC and part of the Big12 content. They aren’t going to lose any more. ESPN has a plethora of network channels that will need the remaining content. Forget adding ACC schools and look for the Big12 to add new states that can be added to the conference. Tennessee, Louisiana, California and Nevada easily does that. Smart money is football first money. Once the football side is complete, Yomark can easily transition to the basketball only option later.

So your saying Pitt and Louisville is a out and Memphis and some team from Louisiana and Nevada and California in? How does help my WVU team when you got to go always over to California? Maybe we should look into the ACC.

@@user-xt5wu1dx9d So you’re saying Pitt would rather go to the Big12 making the same money as they’ll make in the ACC because they want to help UWV out? Several reports have been published that state UWV has had to pay 7.5 to 8.5 million in travel per year for their football program to compete in the Big12. There are also reports that Pitt’s travel cost has averaged 3.2 million per year for their football program to compete in the ACC. Sounds like a sweet love affair if Pitt’s willing to leave the ACC to go help UWV while intentionally losing 4-5 million in travel for football alone. Makes even more sense if you add all of Pitt’s athletic programs travel expenses to go help UWV. Same for Louisville. Unless there is a massive difference in the amount the two conferences pays out, forget teams switching back and forth between the two. None of them are sweethearts and would be willing to give away millions to help each other out.

11:07 The problem with taxes is that the US Department of Education processes athletic and academic scholarships that same way. There is a 14th amendment equal protection clause challenge that these athletes aren't receiving the same protection their academic counterparts are receiving.

It’s sad to me that it’s Michigan and Ohio State ( not Rutgers or Iowa)…and Georgia, Alabama, and maybe LSU ( not Mississippi State or Vanderbilt), but the Big 12…..it’s everybody ! Yet those 5 schools bring in the money !

Ohio State fan here. We're cool with Purdue and other Big 10 members. We're the only Big 10 team to win both the BCS and playoff championships. We know that we must serve as the anchor.

@@terencebaca1990 Since Big 12 fans love talking about basketball, the "bottom feeders” lol in football are some of the most historic programs in basketball. Also the Big Ten is an academic conference first and athletics conference second. Everyone is pulling their weight.
