I was told once that "hitch Hiking" with my thumb on the neck was bad form for guitar, But I have a 3 string shovel, so the neck is round. I can only get my slide around and under if I use my thumb along the neck on the back. I also noticed you did some hitch hiking yourself, and you sound excellent. Any thoughts? Seems like to keep the slide straight on the frets you have to hitch hike a bit.

I've never even held one of those guitars in my hands, yet I already know how to play it. That's because I play by ear. If I can hear it I can play it. Had a friend one time who played piano, but he was what they call "note bound." which means that without the sheet music up there in front of him he couldn't play. Of course, I might not be able to now because of the arthritis in my hands, but then slide on my lap is probably what I'd be confined to these days. Had an old simi hollow body guitar one time, and I took the nut off of it and replaced it with a raised nut in order to get the strings up off of the fretboard. I learned a bunch of songs, including "In My Time Of Dying," and, "When The Levee Breaks," just to name a couple. Yeah, that sounds good. I like that.
