i love this song. not that there aren’t hooks for days in this song, but it’s a slow build to the majesty that begins at 7:26. They do this in several songs, like Vicarious. But it is most pronounced in Rosetta Stoned. A slow walk up the mountain. and all of a sudden there is this beautiful section that is too amazing to be described. 30 seconds or so. then a walk back down the mountain. many bands take that beautiful moment and double the length and repeat it several times in the song. Tool does it once and makes you earn it. that’s a great technique for making you listen to albums again and again.

Then it starts and your like, whoa, this isn't Freebird, no this is dark...and that bass tone is sick AF. A minute later: who is this guy on the drums? He's like ...like...REALLY good. The guitar kicks in: This...This sounds EPIC!!! . I have no idea who these old guys are...why is everyone making jokes about the lead singer. Song ends: mesmerized, mind blown. Picks up phone to call his grandpa. "I will never make fun of your old people music again. Please teach me your ways."

i love this song. not that there aren’t hooks for days in this song, but it’s a slow build to the majesty that begins at 7:26.
I’ve finally got my karaoke version!!!

Awesome to see, they should release a Tool Rehearsal documentary, ha. Hearing the instrumental, you have to credit Maynard for his ability to create vocal cadences/melodies for challenging musical progressions, rhythms and such. They're like here...have fun singing over this, and he can still craft his own little architecture in interesting ways

This is incredible. I love this clip so much!
What kills me about this video is that if I were some young kid and soley went by the thumbnail, I would just assume its some middle aged guys in a converted basement reliving their past glory days by jamming out a few lame tunes like Freebird or Back in Black.
