Elliot Walden trained Victory Gallop against Bob Baffert’s Real Quiet. Victory Gallop spoiled Real Quiet’s Triple Crown bid in the 1998 Belmont Stakes by a nose. For Baffert to team with Walden and win a Triple Crown for him takes a ton of class. That’s why Bob is a legend.

Baffert's a great trainer. He deserved this. Justify reminds of Secretariat in some ways. Big beautiful & scopey. He easily won all three races. Challenged a bit in the Preakness only & two muddy tracks with fog at one no less. It's hard to lose but, u pay ur money & take ur chances. That's horses & unsportsmanlike to bemoan a loss to a team with a better horse. Just sour grapes. Anything can happen in a horse race. After watching the race multiple times no evidence of illegal activity is evident. Even the race commentators mention that fact with regard to blocking. Baffert's other trainee just couldn't keep up with Justify once he shook loose. Neither could any of the other horses. That's horse racing.

Justify reminds me a lot of the great Seattle Slew. Both of these horses were early front runners and liked to take the early lead and could hold on to it. Justify is a great horse, and ran this race in 2:28---Slew in 2:29. I think Slew could have done it in 2:25 or 2:26 --"if pushed hard." That Bob Baffert seems like a great down to earth guy, as well as Mike Smith, and that Baffert seems to have a way with "producing winners." The guy reminds me of a genius in this field--like some NFL coaches are in their profession. Seems the same guy's always is producing the winners. I give Baffert "big credit." When you put it in perspective--and realize that Secretariat ran the Belmont in just 2:24. it does make this race not that significant in respect to the other fast horses that have ran it. Example--Affirmed, AP Indy ( Slew's son), and Easy Goer all ran the Belmont in 2:26-- but no horse ( except Secretariat) had beaten this 2:26 time. Let's remember 2:26 is very fast--only 2 seconds off Secretariat's long standing record of 2:24. I think Seattle Slew, Affirmed, and a couple others could have beaten Secretariat in the "short races"--like the Kentucky Derby, or the Preakness, or came very close, but no other horse would have touched Secretariat in the Belmont.

Why do people try & compare any Triple Crown winners with Big Red in 73 ? I've been into horse racing for 40yrs ive not seen a horse come close to Secretariate over a mile & half apart from Dancing Brave in 85/86 & don't think we'll get another like him. American Pharoah, Justify or even the well loved Zenyatta who was an absolute beauty & she was a big girl BUT nothing beats BIG RED in my opinion.

I think AP would have had Justify in the Belmont but in the derby, Justify would have edged out AP. To run such a brutal half mile in the derby in the slop and still go on to pull away was incredible. But super excited for the "Kentucky Derby" they're putting together next Saturday, a race simulator between all Triple Crown champions!

Second, Restoring Hope did not interfere with any other horse.....just sour grapes. Justify went to the lead & never looked back. End of story.

It's expensive to keep a horse in training and purse money is peanuts compared to the stud fees Justify could earn. The horse won the hardest achievement in sports and he did it easily. No Triple Crown winner retired immediately after winning the Belmont. So let him run. Let the fans enjoy him.

Like the freaks standing out in front of chik fillet telling people not to eat chicken, it's crazy....it's not a cruel sport, it's a BEAUTIFUL sport. Are there bad people in the sport? Sure, the same scenario in every walk of life, but take it from a person who LOVES his horses, from show horses to race horses, race horses LOVE TO RUN! Do you know what often happens when you take the race horse away from the track? They sulk, wanting to return to the track. They get bathed everyday, pampered, and loved upon, it's the Sport of Kings, my horse is faster than yours......Don't listen to these quacks!
