I think my brother was about three years old when he decided to "protest" by throwing himself on the floor and kicking and screaming. I threw about eight ounces of cold water in his face - and he never (to my knowledge) ever pulled that stunt again.

I was involved YEARS ago in a Vietnam war protest. We stood on the SIDE of the road with our signs. People drove by and either gave us a thumbs up, or the finger. We did not stop people from going about their business. People saw our message and that was all we were there to do.

Its asthough they are picking on poor people,,,, why dont they do this to the big companies instead and protest in a useful way so that the rest of us want join them rather than throttle them......

@@billdickason3737 not for 8 billion people there's not. Actually even for the percentage that have access to a decent standard of living, we're messing up the planet, let alone for the 8 billion. My guess is Earth could house about 1 billion humans sustainably. Again, a complete guess. Any more and it becomes unsustainable. Yes in a utopian world where we all live together perfectly, we could probably squeeze a few more billion in, but that's for fairly tales not reality. The annoying thing is we rarely talk about the elephant in the room. Instead talking about greed and the like. Nonsense, humans are innately greedy, we won't change that. But let's at least start talking about the problem.

People need to start using pepper spray or store bought mustard, it burns the eyes!

Until there are real consequences, these people will continue to be an annoyance at least, and a danger at most to people who need to get to hospital.

It never was fun. One of the idiots is going to get killed and then some innocent driver will have to live with it. Why are the police not using the stop and search powers they were given in April to harass them off the road while the full powers are sorted out?

As an environmentalist I am terribly worried that these clowns are ruining all the ground gained by real champions for a healthier earth.

This will not end well unless the police get involved and develop a consistent strategy. Zero tolerance for these roadblocks.

Yes it's a cult but If it was a bunch of football hooligans or far right nutters, people wouldn't do a thing towards them because they'd get their teeth smashed in. Always a different story when the people in the road will fight back.

They always look so bewildered when a car gets through.

They should lead by example, no plastic bags or food stored/bought in plastic, no electronics, only clothing from cotton or wool, and of course only wood heating and no AC!

They cross every legal, moral and ethical boundary in a misguided attempt at proving a point. When others, push back to establish their rightful boundaries, they cry foul.

I think they see themselves as the Rosa Parks and MLK of this Generation, except they're closer of a Dihydrogen monoxide whistle-blowers or Peta activists lots of good will, even more ego and the determination to use any means to advance their cause even if it ultimately damages their goal.

Where I live (Miami) I dont think the drivers would take their time trying to drag them out the road. The patience shown by the British Public is only imaginable here.
