Thanks Kimberly and FQS for another generous free sweet jelly roll quilt. For some strange reason I love buying jelly rolls (probably because of how they are rolled.. LOL) yet can rarely figure out ways to use them.

When snow balling i would sew a second line half inch away, toward corner. You then get a bunch of ready made half square triangles. Incorporate into a border design, or a design on the back, or something else that is fun. I have not done the math on the size of each one. Maybe 2 1/2" square, very rough guess?

Question: (beginner here) you mentioned that you had starched your precut strips , is that correct? I love sewing with starched fabric but I was under the understanding to never ever starch precuts due to shrinkage. Any thoughts here would be lovely. Ty for your tutorials. I Meade my first quilt with you and your amazing tutorials. Graciass

Hello Claudia! Yes, Kimberly starches her precuts. However, she does not recommend starching Jolly Bars but you can take a scrap piece to see how much it will shrink.

Once you have your 33 strips you will divide them into eleven strip sets (three strips in each) and then once those are sewn together you will take three of those sets into six - 6.5" x 6.5" units. From there you will cut the rest of the strips as listed on the pattern.

We starch our jelly rolls when we write our patterns so we did not feel a need to mention it in this video. If for any reason Kimberly uses a different cut of fabric for a pattern because of shrinkage she will mention that but we do not run into that issue with patterns that we write.
