This man is the Leonardo da Vinci of guitar. I hope we all realize how lucky we are to have been born during Kent's time on Earth.

How deeply moving is this?--what a tribute to legendary R&B singer-songwriter-producer James Ingram after the latter's passing in Jan. 2019 at nearly 67 years of age. In Oct 2019, the 16.5-year-old Kent releases this fantastically adept arrangement of Ingram's classic first hit song, "Just Once." Oh Kent, you are indeed a gift to mankind, some kind of heaven-sent angel!

I've never seen a guitarist with the musicality of Kent. I never thought I'd never have the oppurtunity to sse him live. He's coming to Canada! This is one happy Irish man going to see him in Montreal. What a musician.

This is hands-down, the most beautiful arrangement I've ever heard of this song.

He is so smooth and melodic, with evenhanded tonal balance and dexterity, you forget how sophisticated his technique really is.

Those capo changes are unreal.

His use of harmonics… crazy. Amazing artist!

This guy is playing so perfect. It can’t be. He is an alien

here is what make Kent different from other young guitarist on KZread (including Sungha ): - many folks play so well and make me very impressed with their technical skills, precision, rhythm, percussion, etc. But Kent's performance somehow makes me forget about those technical aspects, but somehow gives me joy. it could be that he has covered the known songs - so the brain is more in sync and can guess what will come next. Or it could be that he keeps his style simpler enough ( and not too technical ). I realize that he does not try to show off, he keeps it simple, he could just play for fun. His song is also versatile too. True artist, not just KZreadr. I just like Kent's style and his sneaky capo slides.

Wow, simply blown away. Been playing for 45 years and have never seen anything like this. Kid there are no words for your playing, your arrangements, and talent. You may very well be the best guitarist on the planet. Keep the songs coming please.

He altered the tuning

Play 0:46 at .25x speed and follow along as I point out all the craziness that's happening: - starts out with 3 harmonic taps, very quickly and accurately played with a really nice ring - follows up with the thumb chuck and thumb baseline pluck (2 different beats played by 1 thumb right after each other, i can't even...) - then does a pulloff and hammerdown on the left hand index finger (and it sounds super clean) (0:47) - the right hand 2nd and 3rd finger then plays both main melody and off beat accents while the thumb is still chucking to the beat (0:48-0:50) - follows again with the thumb chuck and baseline pluck but adds in a hammerdown with the left index. Just insane how perfect the voicing is (0:51) And that my friends was 5 seconds of the song, and this song is like that the entire way through. Just unbelievable.

@@miditoast not sure but i think you mean the pinch harmonics... that would be with his ring finger and little finger (??) plucking and his index finger covering one of the harmoinc intervals and his other hand fretting.

Kent is absolutely incredible! If havn’t watched his arrangement of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror” it’s the most captivating playing i’ve ever seen!! MUST WATCH!!

Can't believe the amount of harmonics in this arangement, you are talking serious practice to make that as smooth as that.

I've never seen anyone pull off harmonics like that, didn't even know that was possible! It's like he has 4 brains and 8 hands controlling that guitar all at once.

I am consistently amazed at the precision of his picking and how every note gets exactly the right emphasis. This young man might be the best guitarist in my lifetime of 6.5 decades.

if you are attached to one particular song, that it might and always brings you back to some beautiful moments in you life, you will always want to hear it originally, with all the exact and precise arrangement as it was when you first time hear it some 40 years ago. For that case, any departures from the original version, you will hate it and you just leave the video. But this Kent version, makes me stay, and stay and stay.....he simply takes every detail of the songs, every clink and every little clink of the piano (that for a non true fans of the song might misses them), bass and every beat into his guitar. I don't know why, but for i presume he is very young lads (below 20 yo), he does care about this particular song, that he took every detail of it. Oh I came here late, straight hands down. Nowadays people are putting tons of percussion to arrangement to make it rich but Kent stayed with original while adding different layers of detail. You are my hero Kent ‘harmonics’ Nishimura.

They have showed us how the guitar is to be played. They have re-defined what playing the guitar means. BW.

The talent and skills of this young man is beyond the roof.

This probably is one of the best fingerstyle that I have ever heard it's so soothing. It makes my soul relax.

Techniques used : Fingerstyle, Strumming( various patterns) Plucking, Percussion, Harmonics and of course the shifting of the capo. All of this makes Kent's arrangement one of the hardest pieces to pull off while incorporating every single technique to make sure it's sounding perfect. There's just loads going on in here.
